I am seeking information about Jim Bridger in relation to my ancestor Philip Creamer. Jim was apprenticed to Phil Creamer, the famous gunmaker, for five years from the age of 13 before leaving with Manuel Lisa in 1822. He lived with the Creamers during this time and we understand he was treated by them as one of the family. Oral history in our family is that Jim stayed connected to the Creamers throughout his life, visiting them in St. Louis whenever he was in the area. There is also belief that he led the wagon train which brought Phil's daughter Maria Deady nee' Creamer and her family to California in early 1853, and/or was influential in their decision to go.
