Yeah, we probably do have information we can share on the family concerned. My line of Brighton comes from George's younger brother, Oakley... my email address is btbdance@hotmail.com or btbdance(at)hotmail(dot)com - if the system tries to hide it from you. Please contact me on this email rather as I am no longer with Ancestry.

Also do you know the names of any of his brothers or sisters, that would help.

I'll be very happy to share what I know about this family. Your great-grandfather is undoubtedly a part of the Brighton family I am following.

--George

Hello Michelle. I'm descended from Henry Overton (b Kings Lynn 1839) an elder brother of your Elizabeth Overton (b1842). Our common ancestors are Richard Overton (b1804) and Martha Greef (b1805). Incidentally Martha was baptised in Swaffham on 1 Nov 1805, the same date and place that Richard's sister was baptised. So the Greefs and Overtons clearly knew each other over many years. My Henry moved to Cambridge where our family have been ever since. Have you traced the whereabouts of other Overtons? Regards, Mark Ward

It was this Jim Job who did all the hard work. He probably was the one to find your father and post the book. My book has a short letter and additional genealogy for our branch of the family here in Scotland.

Brighton - Honeywood Bungay, Suffolk

I am searching for info about the ancestors of an Emma Brighton born abt 1855 in Bugay Suffolk. She lives with her grandparents at 101 Beccles Rd, Bungay, they are Elizabeth and Samuel Goodwin on the census' . Emma married in 1776 to a William Honeywood born in Bungay also. They have an Anna Honeywood born 1873 listed as their child in the census' but through research I just found out that when Anna Marrys a George knights (Bungay) she is listed as Anna Alice Brighton - her mothers maiden name - this didn't suprise me as she was born 3 years befor her mothers marriage. She was always know as Anna Honeywood though.
So, I would love it if someone knows anything about this??? I cannot find the registration of either Emma or Anna's birth. I would love to know who Anna's father really was. And who Emma's mother was????
Thanks...

Hi Frances
I think that it may have been you who posted a copy of the above book to my father, Harry John Ernest BRIGHTON many years ago. Unfortunately, the book was destroyed in a housefire several years ago. I have, however been lucky enough to have been able to download a copy.
My Dad died in 1972 and as such, I have not been able to gather much info on my ancestors. Mum is still living and is now 86 years of age. I know Dads fathers siblings, but can find no connections with their parents and grandparents apart from the names John.
I would love to hear back from you.
Regards from Lorraine in Oz

For those interested in the Brighton’s of Worcestershire, Francis Brighton has placed Jim Job Brighton's extensive history of the Brighton surname and the genealogy of this family on his website at:

http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~fbright/

This is a goldmine of information.

Unfortunately, Francis has not included his contact information on this page—if anyone knows how to get a hold of him I would be most grateful.

This book includes BRIGHTON and many variant spellings, including BRINTON, BRITHON, and BRIGHT. Spousal names include DAUX/DAWKES, SILVESTER, BRADFORD, GWYN, INCE, WRIGHT, and others.

This family has a long association with Worcestershire, and especially Bromsgrove in more recent times and Ombersley, Doverdale, Tibberton, Himbledon, Claines, Crowle and related locales earlier.
They had at least one daughter, Nora D. BRIGHTON who married my gggrandfather, William Warner BROWN on 8 May 1904 in Fullerton, Nance County, Nebraska.

There is a record of the marriage on the Nebraska Nance County usgenweb site, but that is all the record I can find of this Brighton family.

Any assistance would be appreciated! We do know that soon after the marriage took place, William W. Brown left Nebraska and settled in Orting, Pierce County, Washington, where he soon married again and stayed there until he died.
Do you have any information on Brightons born in Denmark? I have a gggrandfather who was born Sept 1837. On census he lists his parents as both being born "Den". On another census, his daughter Rosa Jane Brighton Mooneyham, lists her father (Charley Anderson Brighton Sept 1837) as being born in France. The family record sheet/lore that was passed down says Charley Anderson Brighton was born "Baltic Sea" and his parents "Lost at Sea" (both parents). I have h it brick wall with him. I have looked at the "Victims" section of the "Lost at Sea " /Pearson site, but did not find them listed. Any advice appreciated. Would it be logical for Danes to be living in France early 1800's? It doesn't seem like a logical migration route to me, but will consider all theroies. Thanks.
