Dear Dreamweaver. I do not think ours are related. James Churcher Brightwell born 1830, his father Charles born late 1700's. They lived in Belgravia area of London. James had among others a son who he called James |Churcher born 1860, also born London. when James no2 married Pricilla Louise Ellit they has a son and they called him James Churcher! Hi, I have recently started my genealogy history (I am a Brit/American now) but all my family lived in the Middlesex area and my father was born there to Harry Brightwell and Bertha Georgina Clegg. Harry was born to Albert William (1864-1918) and Emily Pearce (1866-1947).Harry was one of 8 children. I'm not sure if any of you have any information on Albert's family but I believe his father's name may have been Thomas S. born in 1825. If you have any information I would be grateful for the help. It's difficult to get it on this side of the "pond". Emily's parents were James Pearce and Phoebe Raines.I believe they are all from the Middlesex area. Thanks.

Hi Brightwell family, I have recently discovered a Brightwell in my family tree, which I have only been working on for ~3 years.
Harriet Brightwell married a Richard Jolly (I presume in Australia or England don't know where) and they had a daughter Mary Ann, born on 17 Mar 1869 in Corindhap, Victoria, Australia. Mary Ann Jolly went on to marry Collins Thornton b:1862 Corindhap, Victoria, Australia. He was the son of Henery Thornton (b: 1842 in Bishop Norton, England and Sarah Maria Arnold b:1843) Collins died in 1921 Victoria, Australia and Mary Ann died in June 1934 in Ballarat Victoria, Australia. Collins Thornton is my Grandmothers brother and I would love to find a connection. Can you help?

Former C. & O. Official Dies At Home At Otway
Clifford Brightwell, 48, of Huntington, W. Va., who retired five years ago as supervisor of water supply after 32 years in the service of the C. & O. railway, died Monday at his summer farm home near Otway of a complication of ailments from which he had suffered for many months.
Mr. Brightwell was well and favorably known all through southern Ohio.
The body was brought to the Thomas and Trefz Funeral Home in Peebles and later taken to Huntington, W. Va., for funeral and burial services.

I would give anything for an answer to this question. I have Alexander Brightwell son of Barnett Brightwell of Pr Ed Co VA. His second marriage in 1840 Wilson Co Tn was to my Mcgehee . But he had a first marriage in Pr Ed Co VA to a widow Mrs Carter. I would like to know who she was and if there was an even earlier marriage for Alexander and if there are kids from his marriages before 1840.He was in Stewart Co TN running a ferry before 1830. He then married in 1840 Wilson Co and went to Weakley Co TN in the same year. He died before 1860. Any help? Pat

If you are still looking, I have a "Lottie" in my tree, but no sister (at least, as of yet). If it is the same, her name was Charlotte "Lottie" Brightwell, b. Apr 1858, d. 29 Dec 1936; married J M Denton. Born in Woodford County, KY, and died in Anderson County, KY. Parents were William Brightwell (1812-1890) and Malvina Neal Tyre (1830-1900). It is possible that the Eugene Swift marriage is simply not in my records, or that we have a different person, but this might help you in confirming whether or not they are one and the same.

If you are still looking for this cemetery, it is actually located on Kansas City Airport property. According to someone who contacted me through Find A Grave, the property is locked. I spoke with someone in the local area and was told that if someone is wanting access, they must call the airport authority to make an appointment, then call again an hour before your arrival. Someone will meet you at the gate and take you to the cemetery.

Last I heard, this cemetery was 'saved' from the current airport expansion project, but who knows how long that will last.

Shirley Kimsey is who I spoke with - she was involved in trying to stop the expansion as there are several family cemeteries currently in the same general area as this expansion project.

After a battle with cancer, Lonnie Brightwell, age 74, Springfield, Mo., passed away peacefully on November 27, 2007, in his home with his wife, Vietta by his side. Lonnie was born July 17, 1933, to Pearl and Hillary Brightwell in Protem, Mo. Lonnie was an Army veteran and graduate of Southwest Missouri State (now MSU). He worked at and retired after almost 30 years from MD Pneumatics (Tuthill) as a drafting supervisor. Lonnie's great enjoyments were his grandsons, genealogy, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hillary and Pearl Brighwell; and his step-mother, Mary Brightwell. His survivors include his wife, Vietta, of 47 years; his son Jeff and his sons, Nicholas and Austin, of California; his son Mike and wife, Melissa, of Springfield, Missouri; and sister Linda and family of Springfield. A memorial service will be held on Friday morning at 10 a.m. in Hillcrest Presbyterian Church where he was a member. No visitation is planned and a private burial will be held. Lexington, MO.,Jul 5 - About 9:30 last night, during the fireworks of the 4th, a patriotic youth, with more patriotism than brains, fired off his little gun, the bullet taking effect in the leg of Miss Zula Brightwell. The wound is painful but not dangerous.

In the 1880 census for Richmond, Ray Co., MO. Zula is living with her father F.C.T. Brightwell and his wife Nannie. The siblings are Lee, Sallie, Susie and Mamie. Zula is 25.She was born in Virginia and her siblings in Missouri.

I am not a relative. I thought it was an interesting story posted in the newspaper and maybe an ancestor might be searching for her.

HERE IS A ROBERT BORN IN 1875- But in this record, the Robert and William Brightwell are brothers.
Are you a member of Ancestry.com? I have a William in my tree, but the states do not match.
Find the census record of Robert in 1880[ the exact record] then work back to 1870, etc. Look for Marriage records, etc. This will have the maiden name you are searching for .

Brightwell – Bruner

Married on Sunday, October 27, 1912, by Justice A. L. Evans and his residence, Samuel Evans Brightwell to Miss Myrtle Brunner. The Landmark is unacquainted with either of the contracting parties, but learns that the groom is a young brother of Prof. Brightwell, the well known teacher in the Washington school neighborhood, while the bride is the intelligent and handsome daughter of one of our Westside farmers. Usual congratulations are extended.
