If you are descended from one of the ten children you listed then the Henry was definately born in Chalden Herring. He was one of 12 children of William Brine and Maria Robbins. William is descended from John & Dorothy of Winfrith.Which one of Henry's children are you from.

you're absolutely right. sorry finger trouble. However, which Brines in the area are you connected to? I come from John and Dorothy's son Edward, who went to the Isle of White. Most of the Brines from that area seem to be related.

I have been curious about the Tolpuddle Brines, and have also wondered if Edwards family entered America through Canada.
I have always wondered if I got my red hair from the Brines'. My mother's brother had red hair. Wonder how far back that ran in the family?? Well, you and I are definitely cousins. I have a very large family tree for the Brines. Here is what I can quickly share with you:
You probably descend from Edward and Patience (Cook) Brine, then their son-Russell who married Eleanor Garner. Next in line would be Russell's son-Henry Harrison Brines who married Elizabeth Jane Mull. (They lived in Belmont, Wabash County;, IL.) They are buried in the Hallock Cemetery in Wabash County. They had a son-Charles Russell, born 1 Feb 1869, who married Sara Elizabeth Risley. She was born about 1866. Their son Clem Henry Brines was born 3 Nov 1900 in Mt Carmel. He married Mary Naomi Cisel who was born 4 Oct 1899. I have 3 children listed for them: Verne born 1926, Clem Eugene born 1924 and Mary Elizabeth born 1927. Does this fit? I have lots more to share with you. Carol

This is probably not the information you are looking for, but I have a Caroline Brines Born 12 Jun 1839. She was the daughter of Jefferson and Sarah Ann Brines. Jefferson was the son of Edward and Patience Brines. The Brines family from them all lived in Wabash County Illinois. I have established contact with several Brines people who have turned out to be distant relatives. Have been researching since 1968. I hope to have a response from you--never know what the connection might be at some point in time. Carol

Hi Warner,

My name is Sandi Vescova, the information I have on your grandfather is that he and my grandmother had a daughter in April 1922, her name is June and she is my mother. From what my Mom told me, was that Clem either died or left my grandmother when my mom was just a baby.

My mom has never really given us the whole story, whether she never really knew it or didn't want to say. My grandmother's name was Lillian Owens and my Mom was born in Litchfield IL. My Mom is still alive and lives with me in AZ.

If this makes any sense to you or if you can help me find out any more information I would love to know more about my heritage where Clem was from what relatives are still out there, things like that. I would enjoy hearing from you. My home email is svescova@cox.net

Thanks
Sandi
Yes, it is interesting to research your family. I remember once I discovered my gg grandmother was the second wife. When I told my grandmother about it she just ducked her head and said you found that out did you that was suppose to be a secret? She was about 100 years old when I told her about it. I also discovered if it hadn't been for numerous second wives throughout the generations I wouldn't have been here!

Happy Hunting!
My husband says he knows Bill Brown. I know several of the Brown family. I know Becky and Jackie. We are not related. I have done much research on the Brine family since the original post. Lots of this information is not true.

Jack Brine's name was John O. Brine. He was born in England. He did marry Harriet Greathouse Griffin. They did have three sons, John, Tom and Will. He was not married to Kate Mitchell Cooley. They were too closely related to be married. They did have one son.

Im from England but living in US for the last 40+yrs.

Marriages:
Hannah Maria Dyke b 1802
Spouse: John Brine b 1802
Marriage: 03 JUN 1827 Mudford, Somerset, England

I havent been able to find John or Hannahs parents but its is possible that she was born in Horsington, Somerset. Do you know if that is close to Mudford? There seems to be some 16 Brine's there in the 1600's!

Thanks for your reply.

The information I have is Henry Cullman Brown married Clara Elnora Carter on 10-10-1910. So this could very well be the same Elnora Carter. He lived in Alabama, was married and had 3 children. One of those children, Joe Alter Brown was my grandpa. His wife, my biological great grandmother died soon after the 3rd child was born. He then moved to DeKalb Texas. Rumor has it that Elnora was a mail order bride. She died when I was 5 years old. I knew her as Momma Brown. Oh yeah, they did have a son named Lenox. I knew him very well. Do you have any information on Elnora, I cant find a thing on the Carter family?
Thanks,
Lorie

I dont know if that story is true or not, it was in the early 1900's. :~) I grew up in Springhill, where Uncle Lenox lived. I believe they call it the "Carter Place". How are you related to him? We may know each other. My dad is Bill Brown.

Yes it is very interesting to research and find out things about your family. I am researching my dads side of the family for him. He is very interested but doesnt have any idea where to start. My grandmother has alzheimers and has been bedridden for a few years now so we arent able to ask her. Since I have lived so far away for so many years it is hard for me to ask anybody. I was surprised to here Momma Brown was married before she married Poppa Brown. :~) Anyway, thanks again..

I don't know what the connection to the Tolpuddle martyrs is, but I've just added a James Brine WHITE to my family tree by marriage.
He married Jannet FAIRBAIRN at Blanshard Twp, Perth Co, Ontario in 1901.
Separately, I found a number of FAIRBAIRN/TRACY/WHITE related photos on the St Mary's Museum web site
http://images.ourontario.ca/stmarys/
donated by a David WHITE.
The Museum and Archives Manager confirmed my suspicion that the donor of the photos and a reference I found elsewhere to David C WHITE, Mayor, were one and the same person, and added that I may be interested to know that the Brine in his father's name was connected to the Tolpuddle martyrs.
As my main interest in the family is the FAIRBAIRN side, I'm not going to get too sidetracked, however I can add that James Brine WHITE's mother was given as Charity Maria BRINE on his marriage cert to my FAIRBAIRN relation.
Regards
Lorna
http://genblog.lornahen.com/

Hi Heather,
I do recognise some of these names, specifically George Notley Brine. I'm really interested in following the links to Caroline Sarah Brine, daughter of George and Clara Branson. Caroline is my paternal grandmother. My Dad, Reginald Edward Edwards was born out of wedlock, and I'm finding great difficulty finding out much about his mother and her family. I do have some photos, and have met some of my Dad's siblings.
In short the Brine connection is part of my family heritage so would like to establish contact.
Regards,
Tony Edwards

I'm not sure if this will help but I have an announcement dated July 1, 1984 for a Brine Family reunion celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Tolpuddle Martyrs. The president of the reunion was Clark and Mary Ready. The reunion wall held at Kirkton-Woodham Pastoral Charge The United Church of Canada. My mother who is not deceased (sir name Evans) received a notice of the Brine Family Reunion almost every year. I believe it was held in St. Marys. Hope that helps.
