I am Pilar Quintos of St. Scholastica's College. I wonder if you know Remedios Bringas who graduated from St. Scholastica's Manila in 1940. If she is still alive, please email me as the college will be hosting a function for those who are 80 years old or over.

Thanks

Aloha Dawn! My branch of Bringas is from Abra, Philippines. I have to dig in my closet for more info but here's off the top of my head: My dad Francisco Reyes Bringas was born in 1913 youngest of five. He moved to Hawaii in 1940 to work in the plantations (sugar & pineapple). Stephaine Bringas on this board is my sister-in-law. Feel free to write - I'm in Honolulu also and would love to know about your side. Mahalo! Susan

Bringas -- maybe from Vizcaya, Spain

I have almost nothing on my Bringas branch, but here goes: my great-great-great grandmother was Bringas. But I don't even know her name. All I do know is that she married a man by the surname of Abascal together they had a son (my great-great grandfather) Blas Abascal Y Bringas. He was born in Vizcaya Spain, but eventually ended up in Matanzas, Cuba where he married had 7 children. I have a lot from that point on. So if anything I've written sounds "familiar," please respond.

Does anyone in your family know of a female relative, probably from Vizcaya, that had a son by the name Blas? His (& his father's surname would've been Abascal). He (Blas) ended up in Matanzas, Cuba. He was married there in 1879. I know it's a needle in a haystack, but it's worth a try.

Hi,Bringas from Hawaii. I come from the Bringas family in Asia. I now live in New Zealand.

My information from the mainland(USA)the name comes from Mexico. I think from that end were from Mexico and the ones from this end were from Asia. Some of the Bringas' living in the mainland USA I think comes from Asia. Based in theory in the old days when the Spanish people went around the world and colonized alot of countries from Asia to South America. I still believed the name originally come from Spain and Portugal.

Any info you have would be appreciated.
Hi...My GF was also very wealthy.
He founded many mines in Guatemala.
This was after being in Mexico.
His sister, Maria Susanna, came from the US to live in Mexico. Maria died and is buried in Seattle (colonia) and Susanna married Paul? Bringas, had a son Paul who married a Rosa Y Flores .....do not know her last name. They were all connected with the mines in Mexico. My GM born in Gudalajara of parents from Spain met my GF there.
I know the Bringas were in California. I went to High School with a few of the girls but it never occurred to me to put the two families together.
There might be some connection. Being that the mines were in both families.
Thanks for your time. I wish I knew more and could be of more help. Please let me know if you find anything.
I talked with my older sister and she said she remembered my Granfather, Emilio Bringus did change the spelling of his last name when he came to the US. His father owned some mines, not sure if it was silver of gold mines. They were very wealthy and their house was a block long. Evidently when my grandfather came to the US, his sister and family got the business/money. But they lived in Durango. So your spelling is probably correct. We are doing more research. I will let you know if I come up with anything else.
