Looking for my husband's great-grandmother. She was born August 29, 1925. Her last known residence was an apartment in the upstairs of the Stilesville Tavern, in Stilesville, IN. The tavern is no longer there. She up and disapearred around 1955. Not sure what happened. She was married 3 times that I know of, twice to the same man. She was married to James Cecil Hall Sr., Paul Elwood Rowing, and again to James Cecil Hall Sr. It is a possibility that she remarried again before she disappeared, as she is listed in her mother's obituary in 1958 as Cleo Knight. My mother-in-law and 3 of her 4 siblings were placed in foster care around that time. Her youngest brother died in a childrens home on the southside of Indianapolis. Her oldest sister was sent to live with an aunt and uncle on their father's side, and her youngest sister was adopted by cousins. My mother and her older brother were adopted by a family. Any information would greatly help.

They were living in Westmoreland County in 1870 and had a son Harry Sylvester Brinker in 9/1867 and in subsequent years listed his birthplace in Westmoreland County, PA.
Marjorie Rose DeMaison Brinker, Born ,in Frenchtown, Crawford County, daughter of, Walter and Blanche Echonoz DeMaison.

Marjorie Rose DeMaison Brinker, age 78, of Edinboro, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, in Punta Gorda, Fla., where she and her husband were visiting. Born October 8, 1932 in Frenchtown, Crawford County, she was one of four daughters of the late Walter and Blanche Echonoz DeMaison. Marjorie grew up on a farm in Frenchtown and lived for a time in Meadville before her family moved to Franklin. While a student at Franklin High School, she met her future husband, John E. Brinker, and after graduating, they were married April 26, 1952. For all their married years together, Marjorie and John were partners in owning and operating several different businesses. After moving to Edinboro in 1959, they themselves built the Cloverleaf Motel and operated it from 1960 until their retirement in 2009. Over the years they also operated a general contracting business, the first garbage hauling business in Edinboro, and Brinker's Mobil Gas Station. Even though Marjorie often would not have enough hours in a day, she always made a wonderful home for her husband and six children. She was a talented seamstress, making clothing for her kids and even making wedding and bridesmaids' dresses. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and traveling and camping with her husband and family. Most of all, she enjoyed family gatherings when all the children and grandchildren were around. As a member of the Edinboro community, Marjorie was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and active in the Altar Society, and for many years she was involved with Weight Watchers where she was able to encourage and help other women. Marjorie was preceded in death by a son, John E. Brinker Jr.; a granddaughter, Rochelle Brinker; and three sisters, Adelaid DeMaison, Gladys Prenatt, and Annabelle Price. Family members that mourn her loss include her husband, John E. Brinker; five children: Roger Brinker and wife, Annette of McKean, Michael Brinker and wife, Debbie of Edinboro, Rose Marie Scouten and husband, Bruce of McKean, Melinda Hockenberry and husband, Scott of Venango, and Lisa Brinker-Cacchione and husband, John of Edinboro; 15 grandchildren: Christopher, Jamie, Megan, Chad, Keisha, Sommer, Sarah, Zachary, Grant, Louis, Tela, Alec, Makayla, Vincent, and Patrick; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home of Edinboro, 306 Erie Street, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lake Church at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Fr. William Sutherland and Rev. Fr. John Jacquel. Interment will follow at St. Hippolyte Cemetery in Frenchtown. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, PA 16412 or Crawford County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 273, Meadville, PA 16335.
( in the Erie Times-News on April 2, 2011 )

Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church,"
Hi,
My Grandfather was William Walter Brinker.
On this site it shows that his mother's
name was Lensing. He was born March 18, 1890 in
Missouri, and died September 2, 1946. I was
one year old when he died. There is a William W. Brinker
who married Georgia Rae Maganety. That is my Grandmother.
They lived in L.A., more likely Glendale, California.
There is also a William Brinker, Head of house John
Brinker born March 1890. Address of 1900 in Rhineland, Town
Montgomery, Missouri. I have a cousin that I have lost
contact with. His name is John Brinker and he moved to Virginia about 30 years ago. I was told that either my Grandfather, or Great Grandfather was adopted. It is sad that I never wrote anything down. Who knew there would be a Internet, and Ancestry.com? William and Georgia Brinker
had a daughter named Betty Merle Brinker, and a son John Brinker. Then my cousin was John Brinker's son.
I don't know if this is helpful or not.
Lewis E. BRINKER (1870-1934)

Seeking information about Lewis E. BRINKER (1870-1934), born in IL the son of Adam Brinker and Catherine (_?_). Lewis married 28 May 1894, Lydia Anna Elizabeth STEINKE (1876-1961), in Kit Carson County, CO. They are both buried at Goodland Cemetery, Sherman, KS where they spent the major part of their married lives. The couple had six children; only three lived past childhood:

1. Adam Clifford, born 22 Sep 1895 in IL, died 21 May 1997 at Goodland, Sherman, KS
2. Beulah, born 24 Dec 1897, Goodland, KS (a twin) nothing more known.
3. Bessie, born 24 Dec 1897, Goodland, KS (a twin), died Oct 1974 at Littleton, Arapahoe, CO, m. 18 Sep 1921, Goodland to Harley C. HORNER; both buried Goodland Cemetery.
4. Gladys (or Lola or Madge), born abt. 1901, Goodland, nothing more known.
5. Edna, born 24 Dec 1903, died 4 May 1904, Goodland, buried Goodland Cemetery.
6. Ernst (Ernest), born 20 Mar 1907, died 4 Apr 1909, Goodland, buried Goodland Cemetery.

I am particularly interested in the exact dates of birth and death for Lewis E. Brinker (an obituary would be wonderful). An obit for Lydia (Steinke) Brinker would probably be helpful. And any information about their daughters, Beulah and Gladys would be most welcome.

I have information on the Steinke family that I would be happy to exchange with any interested researchers. This message contains all that I know about the Brinker family.

sorry this took two years...
sbkruger@gmail.com
Went to Elsau, SW and had a great lunch by the old church. Didn't find anything else.

Went to Zurich genealogy library, really cool place, gloved assistant gave me baptismal records, which i have copies of. never found any land plot information. did find out a curious thing, in SW, if a grave is not "tended to" the family is contacted and then if no response, the body exhumed and cremated. NO OLD TOMB STONES in Elsau, Switzerland!

Ernst Brincker was my Great great Grandfather. Barbara died in 1907 in Scott County, Iowa. They had one son, my Great Grandfather, Carl. I am also looking for information on the Barbara's parents, etc as I have no information on them. I believe her brother or a relative lived in the Maquoketa area also as one of my Great grandfather's son was actually raised as a Vohringer instead of a Brinker.

Are you a relative?

I am also interested in any information about Freed Brinker that you may have. It is possible that Freed was named after Charlotte's brother Freedom Vorhees. Her family grew up in Hocking County Ohio.
Freed Brinker was my great, great grandfather. My grandmother was Myrtle Castoe. Any information you can share with me about the Brinkers, Hills, and Castoes would be very much appreciated.

Christopher is actually spelled Kristopher, and Debra is actually Debraeyia. One would think if the individual who submitted the obituary for print really had any care or concern, they would know that.....But we all know that isn't the case now is it?????

Pretty sad to see that his "biological" family barely even came second...

Brinker, Harold S.

I am seeking information on Harold S. Brinker, a pioneering western autoist. He was from Denver, CO but might have lived other places including Cheyenne and Casper, WY. He was known as a race car driver and participated in many regional auto races, and speed trials including the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. He was also an aviator. He is most remembered as the driver of the Thomas Flyer during the New York-Paris auto race on the Ogden, UT to San Francisco, CA leg in 1908. I am seeking biographical information about his life and career - BD, DD and descendents. Thank you.

Yes. John was married first to Mary Klar. I have found her listed as Freed's mother, but his marriage to Charlotte and Mary's death, and census records made me question this. John and Mary had seven children, the last being John L. I think she died after (or during) his birth. No proof: Just my opinion.
I have found a lot of confusion as to Charlotte's maiden nameand the spelling, but finally found her married to Richard Reynolds. Can't find my source on that but am still looking. More later.

Freed Brinker was my husband's great grandfather. He was born in Ohio, but the family moved to Shelby County, Illinois, by 1870 where they were on the census in Pickaway, Shelby, Illinois. Freed married Louvisia (various spellings) Hill abt 1876. They had two girls then moved to Kansas. By 1894 they were living in Indian Territory, probably Nowata county. Freed is buried there.
Louvisia's family: Father William Hill, Jr., born Apr 1847 in Illinois. His father, William Hill, Sr., born abt 1810 in Kentucky; I have not searched his mother's info as yet.
William Hill, Jr., married Susannah Tolly, born 27 Oct 1833 in Shelby county, Illinois.
I have more info, but will have to dig for it. Glad to share.
