My line of Brinkleys also were in TN and came to Illinois, wonder if we are connected?

My line as far as I know was Timothy Brinkley b abt 1788 NC, d 12 Nov 1859 Gallatin Co ILL. He had brothers, Squire & Hudson also came to ILL. His oldest son, William b abt 1807 TN was my line.

I ran across your question purely by accident. My cousin, Linda Brinkley, has done a lot of work on our family roots.She has traced our family lines back to William Andrew Brinkley in TN. We believe he may have been the husbad of Mary Jane Stewart, of Cole County, IL. Last I talked to Linda, she believes Kendal Brinkley and Hannah Davis are the parents of William A. Brinkley.

we haven't connected to the parents of Kendal. Our family roots are through VA & NC, as most of the early Brinkleys.

The family migrated from TN to AK, then to TX. Oral history has my line of the Brinkleys related/married(?)to Cherokees.
Apparently, some of my family ancestors visted often to OK reservations in the early 20th century.

I stumbled across your reply to a Janice Brinkley Dottle on a message board at Ancestry.com.

My family stems from Perry Brinkley. I was extremely excited to find this information since I have been looking for ANY info about him. I didn't realize his family was so large.

Perry Brinkley married a Nancy ? and settled in New Alexandria, PA. They had 5 children. One was Samuel S Brinkley who married a Margaret ?. I believe they had only 3 children, 2 of whom died early along with Samuel S (maybe some sort of accident or disease). Anyhow, the surviving son was Samuel R Brinkley who worked as a coal miner and later as a conductor on the old Pennsylvania RR. He moved to Youngwood, PA.

I was wondering if Janice ever answered your reply? Did you ever find the name of the parents?

Hi Bill, I think that your John Brinkley is my G-Grandfather's brother. They were in Independence county in the 1860 census. My G-Grandfather was Bumpass Brinkley born in 1841 in Tenn. He had two brothers William and John Brinkley. They all joined the confederacy in around 1861. If you have his military records does it show his birth year. The 1850 census shows he was born in 1836,but the rest of the records show he was born in 1840.my E-mail is jbrinkley3@sbcglobal.net for more discussion

John Richard "price" brinkley is buried there. born 1864
died 1960. As for John Brinkley, his father, I have yet to
find any dates on him.

Robert Clarence Brinkley was my husbands great grandfather. He has been one of my brick walls. Any information you have on him would be appreciated. If I am connecting the right dots his father J A Brinkley married his brothers widow in Johnson Co TX making A W Brinkley his step brother & cousin. I know where they were in 1880 & 1900 but the 1st & 2nd wives are still a mystery. Robert Clarence & his brother James Mathew were both born in Arkansas but so far I haven't found any records there.

I am trying to trace any connection to my Grandfather William Samual Brinkley who was born in 1914. Through family we think he may have been born in Wales and could have connections with travellers or maybe even circus workers. Due to the fact that he may have had a fallout with his family he might have been bought up by an uncle in the London area. On his marriage certificate his father is listed as Frank brinkley but we have no other information on him.

Thanks for the information on Daniel Brinkley and Nancy Oakley. I have been trying to find proof that my Sarah Brinkley was their daughter. I show that Sarah Brinkley married Marion Buckner in Rutherford County Tennessee and they moved to Coffee and Franklin Counties in Tennessee where they spent the rest of their lives. I am assuming that the Oakley family that her and her brother William Brinkley were living with in 1850 were her grandparents. Do you know if Daniel Brinkley and Nancy Oakley had any other children together besides Sarah and William?

Mary L. Brinkley married John Harrison Butler (b abt 1814 NC), and their first child was born in 1838. I have the first documentation of them in the 1850 Census of Jackson, Madison Co., TN, where they lived most of their lives and were buried. I am descended from their second daughter Araminta Paralee Butler McMillan (b 1840).

I would like to trace Mary Brinkley Butler's line back, but have no information on where she was born in NC or the names of her parents.

My grandmother was a Brinkley and I've traced her family back to Josiah Brinkley. I don't have much information on him except that he married Christian Saunders (Sanders) in September of 1803 and that he appears in the 1786 census for Gates County NC. I've run into a dead end with regards to birth and death dates. Any help would be appreciated.

my line shows daniel brinkley born north carolina and nancy oakley married and have kids, one named sarah brinkley married john buckner and lived in tenn., nancy oakley died in indiana , daniel brinkley moved to and lived in holly springs,ms. married nancy caroline morris there and died there. nancy (morris) brinkley moved to texas with sons robert e. lee brinkley who married edna woffard and henry stonewall jackson brinkley married jeanie casey in marshall county,ms. it took over 3 years to move from holly springs,ms. to texas. while moving they went through ark. and some stayed and formed brinkley ark. rest went on.

Jeremiah Brinkley who married Sarah Doty on 2-1-1849 moved to Lincoln Co., Arkansas soon after their marriage. They do
not have a son John.

She was probably from Granville county, NC. My dads mother was Clara Elizabeth Brinkley and was raised in southwest Missouri but her great-grandfather came to Missouri from Sumner, CO Tn. His father was from Granville, co, Nc. My grandmother had said some of her kin (Brinkleys) were the founding fathers of Jackson, Tn. I am pretty sure we would be related, question is how. I also come from Nelson and Sally thru Henry Brinkley, b. abt 1852. He married Josephine P. Gardner around 1874. As far as I know they had four children, Mollie, James, Maggie and Flossie Ann. He died 18 Dec 1912.

Has anyone come up with anything new in the last few years?

Is Bakersville near Halifax? I have Brinkley's from Halifax and have very little info. Just a Sarah Brinkley who married James Mathews and they moved to Georgia. I would love to find a cord going somewhere.
