There are many Brinkworths in Australia, probably the largest group being in South Australia, descendants of Thomas and Elizabeth Brinkworth married 13 May 1834 in Horsley, Gloucestershire. Other branches came from Frampton-upon-Severn and Painswick. The town of Brinkworth in Wiltshire has a sister town in South Australia about 100 miles north of the capital, Adelaide (not quite "the bush"). It is in the mid-North wheat belt. The land for the town was made available by my great-uncle so that a railway track could be connected to silos to take wheat down to Port Adelaide. The town has a museum devoted to its history and that of the Brinkworths who helped establish the town. Other Brinkworths may be found mainly in Western Australia and Queensland.
