I'm related to George and Sallie (Epps/Moton) Briscoe, my great-great grandparents. Both were mulattos according to Arkansas census and Civil War Records. George looked very native american, Sallie looked very white (have picture). George was born a slave in Lawrence Tennessee. George's sister Mahala Briscoe had 2 children, George and Lillian. Lillian married a Perry. Great-great grandfather George is kin to the following people: Randle (Dee) Briscoe (his brother), Darkis Briscoe (Dee's wife). Christine Jackson, Missy and Randolph Warner. Willie, Arizona, and Mary Lee Jackson. Also Henrietta Briscoe (Dee's ex-wife). George and Sallie had the following children: Tallie, Notley (Natty), Julia, Corrine (Hettie Sills, my great grand), Bertha Woods, Ollie, Johnnie, Susie (Moton) Roddy and husband Lewis Roddy. Children were Ruben, Maude, Edward, & Nathan. George Briscoe is my Dad's great grandfather. Trying to convince my dad to do a DNA. Physical skin coloring of the black Briscoes are from very fair to black, but most have distinctive native american features. I was told by my dad's mother who looks mostly Indian that we were from African and Choctaw/Chickasaw/Cherokee, Irish heritage. I hope this helps someone's DNA project. Possible slave owner names were: John and Mary Briscoe of Augusta, Woodruff County, Arkansas. Surnames are; Briscoe, Sills, Fitzpatrick, Roddy, Fleming, Perry, Williams
