I think Ignatz had a brother John living with him in 1880.
Ignatz (jr) was born in Ashland, WI on 9/21/1892. At that time Ignatz (sr) was a laborer.
Ignatz and Mary had several childresn - Theodore, Laura, Fank, Martin, Julie, Theofelia, Ignatz, Mary (my grandmother) and Mike. I know this is posted 6 years after the initial inquiry - I have additional information...

Your message caught my eye as I found an Alan Victor Jessell Brisck connected to my family who was married to Elsie Brisck. They lived in Clapham Park London. I wrote to them but unfortunately Alan had died in 1994 (he was born in about 1921. I believe that Elsie has now also died.

My connection is via my grandmother Rose Brisck (b. 1905)whose father was Jessell Thomas Brisck (b. 1878) and his father Jessell Thomas Brisck (b. 1857) and his father Jessell Brisck (b. 1805) - all lived in Shoreditch although the Jessell b.1805 was born in Hamburg, Germany.

Any connections?

Sorry, mine were from Poznan Poland, arrived NY approx 1883, and remained in the Syracuse (Solvay) area. Original names were John and Frank Brzyski, Brzeski or Brzycki, but went by Brisky in the US. They may have had roots in Germany, but I don't have any info that connects them to France.

I recently was going through St. Adalbert's Cemetary in Milwaukee, WI taking some photos of interesting graves. I came across a grave for Fred Brisk, born March 18, 1905 and died September 1976. The headstone says he was a semi-pro baseball player of the 1930's. If anyone has any information on Fred, I would be interested to know what team he played for and how he did.
I don't how helpful I will be with this recent information that I got from my grandmother, but here it goes. She told that her father Carl Ramberg possibly change the family name "Ramberg" from something sounding like "Brisk" but she not sure on this information. We have many relatives with the Ramberg name in Minnesota possibly in Sweden or Germany. Carl came to the US in 1911 and was born in Sweden in 1880. My grandmother tells me that Carl was not allowed back or he would be killed--not know if this is true or why he couldn't return.
Brisk Family

Thank you for your response. My Brisks (MORRIS and RACHEL) were born in Brest Litovsk but left sometime after 1864, living for some time in Saffed, Egypt. They had at least 3 sons; one remained in Egypt, one left for Singapore and one, named MICHAEL, moved with his wife HANNAH to Manchester England, in about 1896. Together they had 4 children, RACHEL (dob 1853), FANNY (dob 1888), MORRIS (dob 1897) and MIRIAM (dob 1902). Miriam was my maternal grandmother and she immigrated to the U.S. in approximately 1928, to marry NATHAN JOSEPH...settling in Chicago, Ill., initially and then Reno, Nevada.

It appears that through the internet I have located a portion of the family related to the brother who left for Singapore, however, there is more family out there. Please let me know if this fits with any of your family's history.

Re Alan BRISK

Hi Charlie,
Do you know anything about this Mr, A BRISK. The Alan BRISK I am searching would be in his 70's I should imagine. His wife is/was a Miss NICHOLLS. She was born in London to Henry William NICHOLLS and Charlotte OLLEY, but my father, he nephew, says that he always knew Henry's wife's surname as NEWMAN and not OLLEY, but I have a birth certificate that says otherwise....

Hope to here from you again, but if not, many thanks for the information it is much appreciated...
All the best Gary Steggles...

I've been told that this might be my family's origin, but I'm not sure. My great, great grandfather, Simon Brisk, came from that area to the U.S. in the early 1820's, via England, and settled in New York City, then Staten Island.
