I have since traced the lineage back to Jacques Archambault on Clemence Maille's side. His wife Francoise Tourault is said to have aboriginal lineage, even though most databases reject this and state that she was born in France. Just to make it clear, I believe there is a great amount of effort on the side of many French people to hide bush marriages and it's lineages. I believe in the truth, whatever it is! And I don't trust the old discriminating attitude. My grandmother's would have washed my mouth out if I had given her this information. But I'm sure they kept quiet about many things.
On Onesime Roy's side I have traced back his lineage to Nicolas Pelletier (1614-1689 and Jeanne Du Roussy (indian/metis) who have been purposefuly hidden from our ancestory. Information was made up about them! It seems that many people, especially in Quebec don't want to know they have aboriginal roots. It could be said that there is a lot of misinformation, however, why not put it to rest with church documents from France, etc---made public on the internet.
I will always believe that any French lineage dating back to New France and early French and Metis settlements WILL HAVE NATIVE ANCESTORY. It's to find it and the task is very difficult and frustrating.
