Hello!
I've gathered together some info from different sources about ancesters of mine who were Drummond Island voyagers. This includes Hyppolite Brissette (who lived to be 102 yrs old!), his wife Archange (a cree princess from great slave lake Alberta), and their childern Archangele, Hyppolite, Jane (Dube), Cecile, Theophile, Ellie, John, Josephte (Magneur), Edmond, Armandie and Andre. I know that Hyppolite was a trapper with the North West Company and that there was a statue arrected in his honour in Penetanguishene, Ont. Canada that has since been removed.
If anyone has any other information, including anything on the reported half native heritage of Hyppolite, please share!
Thanks!
