I didn't know that! Lena's brother George Marme also had a son named Maurice Raymond (he went by M. Raymond or just Ray). He was my father in law. Ray was a wonderful person! This Raymond would be my father in law's first cousin. Are you related?

Joseph Bristol of Victor, Ontario Co., NY, b. 1809

I am seeking any information about the ancestry of Joseph Bristol, who was born 15 September, 1809. His place of birth is uncertain: on censuses it is variously listed as New York, Massachusetts, or 'unknown'.

He is living in Victor, Ontario County, New York from at least 1840 where he remains until his death in 1874. He is buried in Rochester, NY. His occupation is listed as 'farmer'.

He was married to a woman called Mary (maiden surname unknown), who was born in 1812, and has at least 4 children: Levi (b. 1837), Mary (b. 1848), my ancestor Herbert (b. 1850), and Edmund (b. 1854).

I realize that this is a bit of a shot in the dark, but if I can get back one more generation perhaps I can tie my line into the Bristol line of CT that has already been much worked-on. Many thanks.

Michigan - Peter/Rebecca Bristol

Is anyone researching this family???

Peter Bristol b. @1834 New York married Rebecca Fuller b. @1837 New York in Newark, Allegan County, Michigan on 31 March 1855. In the 1860 census (same location) they had a daughters Elizabeth and Helen. Eventually, they settled in Ludington, Mason Co. and Lake Ann, Benzie Co. Michigan. They had a son Peter Jr., and daughters Carrie and Maude.

Carrie Bristol appears to have married a man named ?? Magill (Mcgill) before 1894. She is found alone in the Michigan State 1894 census in Lake Ann. On 12 June 1897 in Lake Ann, Benzie Co., MI., Carrie married Frederick Graham. In the 1900 census Carrie and Fred are living in Lake Ann and have one daughter Margret W. After this point I lose Carrie and Fred and don't know what happened to them.

Peter Bristol appears to have died before 1910 when I found Rebecca living with her son Peter Jr. and a grandson Edward (age 2) in Lake Ann. In 1920, Rebecca is living with her widowed daughter, Maude and her three children. Rebecca is in her 80s at this point. I have not been able to locate Peter Jr. in the 1920 or 1930 census or locate Maude Bristol Bush in the 1930 census. No other information on the older daughters of Peter and Rebecca Bristol.

My main interest is in Carrie Bristol Magill Graham and family. Thanks for taking a look and for any help you all might be able to offer.

Origins of Jack Boyd Bristol (1912-1946)

Hello all.

I am looking for any information on my great grandfather, Jack Boyd Bristol. Here is what I have so far:

He was born around 1912 in Georgetown, South Carolina. The story goes he was left on someone's doorstep as an infant during the great depression (no birth certificate), and no one in my family can identify who the biological or adoptive parents are. He apparently chose the name, Jack Boyd Bristol after growing up a bit in his new home.

Later he married my great grandmother, Essie Mitchell, in Jonesboro, North Carolina. They had two children, Jack and Jimmie. Jack Senior and Jimmie were both killed in a motorcycle accident on April 23rd, 1946 in Edgecomb County, North Carolina.

My great grandmother Essie remarried to William Crittenden, and she passed on October 3rd, 1996. William passed 10 years later in December of 2006.

I am looking for any information or direction that might be helpful in determining the true origins of my great grandfather Jack.

looking for familiy of the late Debbie Bristol of Dunbarton, N.H.; her horse was named "Golden"

I attended middle school and horseback riding lessons with Debbie Bristol in Goffstown, NH in 1970-73 or so. She was a very good friend of mine during those schoolgirl days. Her family was from Conn. At the time, they lived in Dunbarton, N.H. though they moved away after a few years, perhaps back to Conn. I lost track of her after high school, having moved away myself. I heard thereafter that Debbie had died of meningitis in her first year of college, in 1976 or thereabouts. I tried to reach her family then, but no one seemed to know anything more at the time. The technology just wasn’t there.

It is now about 40 years later, and I’m writing a series of article about riding under the late Charlotte Read, who was also Debbie’s instructor. I have thought about her often through the years.

Debbie would have 3 sisters, all younger. I believe they all had names beginning with D. They would be in their 40s now. Her father commuted to Conn from NH in those years.

Debbie was a very intelligent girl, she was an A student, she had a horse named “Golden.”

Though it has been many years, I still would like to get in touch with any of the Bristol family, if they would be so kind as to contact me. I am in hopes that with current technology, I can make this connection at long last. Thank you.
He fathered 4 sons, William T. in 1891; Chas.
Betsey Bristol of New York and Connecticut

Betsey Bristol was born in Pittsfield, NY about 1813. She later moved to Harwinton, CT with parents and siblings in 1830's - early 1840's time period. Married Joseph Fenn in Burlington, Ct in 1845 and had two children: Ambrose in 1847 and Hannah Elizabeth about 1849. She died in Harwinton in 1870's. According to the Bristol Genealogy she was the daughter of Thaddeus Bristol and Chloe Wooding. I cannot locate any documentation proving her parentage (ie, birth, marriage or death records.) She had siblings: Harriet, Lydia, Emeline, Thaddeus, Delos, Noice, Benjamin, Silas, Adaliza and Eunice. Any documentation out there proving her parentage?

Hello,
I don't know anything about Bessie, but some of the others I do. I am the great granddaughter of Jane Hattie Bristol and Pinkney Baldwin. Bessie had 4 brothers: Monroe, Lenoard, Donie, and William Robie (my grandfather). She had one sister Emma Baldwin.

William Robie (my grandfather) married Cora Coffey and they had
Beatrice (deceased)
Clarence (deceased)
Rittie (deceased)
Carlos (deceased)
Homer (deceased)
Harrison (my father)(deceased)
Virginia May (deceased)
Tivis (deceased)
Hoover (deceased)
Claude, Newland, NC
Archie (deceased)
Hazel, South Lions, MI
Bonnie, Newland, NC

We believe that Hattie May's father was Gedion Bristol and they called her mother Elizabeth (Cherokee Indian). My father actually knew his grandmother Hattie May. She taught my grandmother (Cora) how to doctor people with herbs and to weave baskets, which was passed on to my father. We have one of Hattis baskets that she made. It is really special. My father looked alot like her. He had the high check bones, silk Indian hair that was jet black, and the dark skin. My father was known as one of the last mountain men. He died in 2002 at 83. I am the baby of six. You have a load of cousins. there is a bunch more information and we have a baldin reunion every 2 years. Please e-mail me at banditk12a@aol.com and I will send you more information that goes back even further.

Re: Judge Warren Henry Bristol

I have done a little research on Judge Bristol because he was a Judge here in Dona Ana County, New Mexico. He is the one that sentenced "Billy the Kid" to hang and sent Pat Garrett after him when he escaped. I likewise hear that he died in Deming which is 60 miles from here, Las Cruces, NM. I have not been able to find a grave marker in any cemetery near Deming or even here around Las Cruces. His judge seat was in Mesilla, a small town ajancent to Las Cruces. This was also the place where the Gadsden Purchase was signed. All the records I can find are census records from Minnesota (Featherstone, Goodhue county) where he was in the 1857 state census, 1860 and 1870 US census. In the 1880 census he is in La Mesilla, Dona Ana county, NM. If you have a copy of the Bristol Genealogy, written by Warren Edwin Bristol, you can trace him back to the Henry Bristol that first came about 1646. If I happen across some more info I will forward it to you.

I don't have any information on a Samuel Bristol in my records (although, it doesn't mean that he did belong to the family) at this time. Actually. the info on the Bristols is very slim...In one piece of info that I have says for a Samuel P Bristol is buried at Riverside Cemetary was born in 1840 and died Apr 13 1868 in his 29th yr. Then, another record, where a Thankful Bristol married a John Galusha (Born June 5th 1787 in Washington County, NY and died on August 9 1862 in Fort Miller , NY buried in Riverside Cemetary)and had about 8 kids ? Then only other Bristol info I have is that of an Edward Bristol and a Mary Bristol (Born Nov 17 1822). Then I hit a dead end. This Mary Bristol had married a Thomas Galusha...and Edward Bristol married a Sally Galusha. This is all the info I have. I am sorry, wish I could have been more help. If you have another info that would be great.

Thanks,
Kathryn Buckley
kathryn408@yahoo.com
