I am the great grand daughter of Samuel Bristow. My grandfather was Sam Jr. older half brother, John Curtis Bristow. Samuel Sr was married to my grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Bristow and they had 2 children John, and Olah Mae. He never married the Sharp lady to my knowledge, but he did in fact die in Tucker Prison according to my grandmother. Sarah raised her kids in Little River County Arkansas with Samuel's parents. I believe his mothers name was Florence, and his step father who raised him was Curtis Jeffries who was I believe a lawyer. I would love to learn more about the family and will share what I have been told.

We have an Elizabeth Bristow born 1863 Tennessee; died: Jan. 27, 1929 Hickman, Fulton County, Kentucky,, SHE married husband # 1: James Miller (born about 1855 Kentucky Death Date Unknown) in 1885 Hickman, Fulton County, Kentucky; Not sure if they had any children but would like to know.,,,, she married husband #2: Martin J. Jones (born about 1847 Tennessee Death Date Unknown) in 1893 in Hickman, Fulton County, Kentucky.
Children of marriage #2 were: Nellie Ella Jones born: 1895 Ky.& Sammie Jones born 1897 Ky. & Rosa May Jones born 1899 Ky..

John Bristow (c1750-1802) of Calcutta

John Bristow was baptized at St.Botolphs, Bishopsgate, London on 15th January 1750. Son of John Bristow (1701-1768), a director of the Bank of England and Anne Judith (c 1702-1788) daughter of Paul Foissin (variously described as a Wine Merchant in the East Indies or a Banker of Paris).

John Bristow sought his fortune in "the East Indies". He was resident to the Court of Oudh, became British Resident at Lucknow in 1782, and was President of the Calcutta Board of Trade. He died on 20th October 1802 and was buried at South Park Street Burial Ground in Calcutta.

By his wife Emilia Wrangham, he had four children. But I'm more interested in finding out more about his mistress.

She was said to be a native woman, and they had four children between 1774 and 1778. She was dead by 1829, when her will was filed in the Calcutta High Court by a fellow named Mahondy Khanum, who "asked that her debts be paid from what was due her from Bristow's estate".

I don't know if its possible to obtain a copy of that will in the way that British ones can be obtained.

I'm descended from John Bristow and his mistress via their daughter Charlotte Bristow, born in Delhi in 1776. She married Robert Hyde Colebrooke at Calcutta in 1795, and died at Walcot near Bath in Somerset in 1833.

I'd be interested if anyone knows more about Bristow's mistress.

1. Anne b abt 1701 marr Anthony Seal Jr. 24 Dec 1720. Need her parents & siblings. Anthony was the son of Anthony Sr. & Dorothy Hughes. Also need Dorothy's parents & siblings.
2. William b abt 1680 marr Margaret Clarke 7 Dec 1704. Who were his parents & siblings? Margaret was the dau of Edward Clake Sr. & Ann Fern. Also need children for William & Margaret.

I am research John David's family and it turns out that Barsha Bristow was his grandmother on his mothers side (Bernice Barber). He was told that she was Chactow/Cherokee, but could not find any documentation. I have started his family tree, but hit a brick wall up until now. I have a marriage certificate of Ann Gore born 1835/6 (the daughter of my four x great grandfather) and her first husband was Ebenezer Bristow. i dont know when he died. the marriage was in 1857 or 1859. i think they had a son called James Bristow.
later - about 1864 - she married George Stevens, and finally she married James Olivieri or Olivienne.
Does anyone have any information about these people? i would like to know if there were children. they all lived in Liverpool.

I've just begun my husband's family. His great-grandparents were James Wm.(jr)Stinson & Mattie Wills. Mattie's parents were David Wills & Martha Bristow. Marths's parents were Andrew Bristow & Elizabeth Kerrick(Karrick) Bristow. That is all of my information. The Stinson family is from Ky.
Martha Bristow birth is abt. 1838-1840
death is abt. 1870-1874
I don't have any dates or places on Andrew.

John Edward Bristow died in 1941 and is buried next to his wife Mary Elizabeth Bristow (Anderson) in the Edgewood Cemetery. Also buried in the same family plot is his only daughter Norma Jean McGlolthin (Bristow) and her husband W.R. (Mac) McGlothlin. This is also the resting place of my mother Anne Elizabeth Bristow (Butler) wife of John Edward Bristow Jr. John Edward Bristow and Mary Elizabeth Bristow's only son. Etta May Worley (Bristow) is buried in Rawlings cemetery near her husband James A. (Jim) Worley. I believe John William Bristow and Maggie Nola Bristow (Strickland)* Note spelling* are buried in Red Oak cemetery. To read the inscriptions on the tombstones is truly emotional. Howard Milam only son of Dewitt Milam and Esther Milam (Bristow) is buried in Hope, Arkansas.

Think he came from London area - brothers James & Arthur, sisters Elizabeth & Rebecca. Elizabeth died about 1908. He was disowned by his family - dont know reason. An aunt lived near Hyde Park.
He married Magdalene Russell.

Hi, I am tring to find this person he would of been my grandfather I never met. He is passed on not sure when I think between 50 something to 60's. my father his father has passed on. My father never knew him he did talk to him on the phone as he was older and at that time I was told he did live in calif. we live in oregon my father was born in 1927. Not sure if grandfather had remarried and had a family. Not sure if he was married to my grandmother or not. His name is on my fathers birth certf. Maybe he had childern and they would know of this son he had and never met. sure would love to meet other family Bristows and know more history. thanks to anyone who can help.

Sorry I have been looking at Death notices here and I am not real sure of the first name spelling on my fathers mother. Lovena or Lovenia or Lavina I have found it different on many papers. I am pretty sure her maiden name was Graham. She was born May 17th 1910 in Broken Bow, Nebraska Died in Lebanon,Oregon feb.8,88 the same year as my father. she is in the Willamette National Cemetery portland oregon the same as my father.

His mothers name was Lavina Graham I know people called her Babe as a nickname not sure when that started.

She married Richard Thomas Bristow 1889 in Brighton, Sussex Co., Eng. Her father was William Streeter b. 1831/32 Cuckfield, Sussex Co., Eng. He married Mary Hayler 1856 in Cuckfield, Sussex Co., Eng. Their children:

I believe I have a copy of the family tree of this family below (Hanna Streeter). I had a friend Mark Bristow who has passed away. We both had the same name but had not as yet found a family connection. He did give me a copy of his tree and I could dig it up but I am sure it was Hannah Street.

Looking for details of his marriage
Henry was born 1797 In Leeds, married Rachel born 1799 in Leeds, but I don't have her maiden name or date or place of marriage. Henry died in Camberwell in 1865. he was a school tecaher and had 5 children between 1828 & 1839. Any clues greatly appreciated.
