My name is Peder Brix Nielsen. My Grandfather was Thorvald Brix Nielsen, he married Gudrun Sorensen, they lived in Ulsted, Danmark. They had 6 children: Jorgen, Elisabeth, Poul, Mogens, Soren and Jens. As I recall, Thorvald was one of 14 children. He died in 1956, when he was 56 years old. I beleive than he was from Randers, but I am not sure.

Re: Brix family from Minn/St Paul area

I am great grandson of Charles Brix. Charles moved to (I believe Butte) Montana as a butcher. His son Arthur (your brother?, my grandfather) was born in Minnesota in 1905. Arthur became a BN engineer based out of Havre, Montana. Arthur married Alvera Miller (dob 1917) also born in Minnesota but descended from Peter Miller and Elna Nelson (both born in Sweden). They had two sons Arthur "Terry" and Robert were born in 1944 and '46, respectively.

Regarding German origins, I can confrm that Charles was born in 1863 and Rosa Huftle in 1875. Rosa's parents were Christof Huftle (1839 dob) and Rosina Kubler (1838 dob).

My father, Terry, did some research recently that led to conclusion that Charles and parents may mave been from Silesia in today's Czech Republic, but cannot indpendepently confirm.

I believe the Amy Brix you are referring to was my great aunt. Her mother's name was Selina Fowle (not Towle). She did live in St. Catharines and had 5 brothers William, Ernest, Kenneth, Arthur and Albert (my grandfather was Albert). My grandmother (Amy's sister in law) is 96 and is still alive and living in St. Catharines Ontario.

Do you have any information on William or Selina? I have just started looking after speaking with my grandmother, who knows very little about the family tree. Selina remarried after William was killed after being gased at Vimy Ridge - WWI. (He came home to die)

Let me know if I can help you out further.

Margaret Brix

Hi Mike,

My grandfather was George C. Brix and my great-grandfather was Thomas Brix who married Alfrida Fischer. Both of them entered the U.S. at Ellis Island from Copenhagen ships, but different years (www.ellisisland.org has both of their records on file). As of now, I don't have any information further back than that, but I will post again if I find anything of their Danish history. Have you found out anything else regarding your great-grandmother?

Thanks!

This info taken from a copy of the marriage certificate. From information I saw on Ancestry, they had two children, Donald, & Rita Gogo.
Thanks for your reply. My grandfather was also Franz Brix, but his marriage certificate says he was born in Girsig in 1866, and that his parents were John (Johann) Brix and Agnes Schindler. I found a likely Johann, born in Girsig in 1837. That's all I found on the Family Search International Geneaological Index. Sorry I don't have more names to share; they were probably all related somewhere back there, considering the close proximity.

I am looking for any information on Harry Brix of Tekamah, NE and Loren William Brix of Omaha,NE. Loren was married to my aunt. They had a son named William Loren Brix who died about 15 years ago in Las Vegas, NV. I was told in Las Vegas that William's son picked up his father's personal belongings. I was very much like to get in contact with this son of William's.

Hi Joan
I've read your message several times but wasn't able to make a connection.I just had my grandfather's birth certificate translated. His name was Franz Brix born in Mahr Trubau in 1888.Mahr Trubau is about 25 miles from Girsig. His father was Karl Brix married to Anna Wolfe who was from Johnsdorf(Janovice) about a mile from Girsig.Other names on the birth certificate are Severin Brix and his wife Anna Maria Knirsch from Reichnau,Johann Wolfe, his wife Viktoria Bieberle from Johnsdorf.Ihave a census record for my grandmother and it's full of info. Now I have them looking for a census record for the Brix side.Do any of these names sound familiar. If you have anymore names and dates maybe between us we can make a connection.
Don Simpson

Kathleen,

I researched this a few years ago when dad (Sam) was looking for Rosemary and Elizabeth. I found out the Rosemary died in about 1955? She has 2 kids, I believe a boy and a girl. We let them know when grandma (Mary) died, because of the will. As far as Elizabeth goes, I ran out of leads. At one time we were told she sold magazines near the Dalles. She was adopted by a family in Goldendale. I called the records area in Goldendale and they told me the family that adopted her. It just so happened that the person I talked to was married into that family--my mind is blank right now. I wish you luck--dad would love to hear from her. By the way, I live in Tacoma, Rick in Elma, Sue in Minnesota. Uncle John's kids are Jim and David. (Not really his, but he raised.) Say hi to everyone, it was good to see Pete a couple of months ago. Carrie

I recently learned that my great grandfather's name was Christen Brix. His wife's name was Lydia Vilhelmine Ernestine of Thiesen (this is what was on my grandfather's baptismal certificate). My grandfather's DOB was March 27, 1896. I know he had two older sisters, Kamme and Elle, but I don't have their DOBs, nor anymore information about my great grandparents, except that Christen died in 1902. Does this match up with anything you have?

I found out that my paternal great grandfather's name was Christen Brix. I don't know what year he was born, but he died around 1901 when my grandfather was 7 years old. Christen was married to Lydia Vilhelmine Ernestine Thiesen. They had two daughters and a son (my grandfather). My grandfather's date of birth was March 27, 1896 and his birth certificate was filled out by the Frederiksberg Kirke (church). Perhaps Johannes could be Christen's father?

My information may be too far back for you to use presently, but I have a g.g. grandmother, Margareta Henrietta Amalie Brix,(lutheran) b.1828, Rendsburg Germany, married Heinrich Daniel Herbst b. 1820, Hanover Germany (Roman Catholic). In 1855 they were living in Haderslev, with her brother Johannes. Present at a baptism at that time was her sister Caroline...I am presently searching for information on this pair but I have come up dry prior to 1855. It is said that he met her when he was studying at the U of Copenhagen, so there might be a link for you. I do know that the brother was only 13 in 1855.

BRIX relatives

My mother is Caroline Brix, born January 1, 1930 in Cleveland, WA. Her father was Herman Brix, her mother Mary Ella McCurdy (Sam McCurdy and Lizzy Freer). I believe Herman was born in 1884. Mom's oldest full brother, Sam once told me that the Brix side of the family was from the Minnesota area. Mom's other siblings were John, Elizabeth and Rosemary. Sam lives in/on Camino Island outside Seattle. His children John, (died in VietNam), Rick, Susan and the youngest, Caroline "Carrie" The last I knew Uncle John was in Olympia. I think he has two boys, maybe more. Since the children were put into separate foster homes in the early 30's the only information I have about the Eliza"Beth" is in about 1953 she was in California, and had at least one daughter, Frances, born in the early 50's like me. I think Rosemary was adopted. Mom has mentioned a couple of times that she would like to be able to get in touch with her sisters. Any help would be appreciated.

I am tracing the family of Kai Brix. Kai was born in the late 1890s in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was the youngest of three children, and the only son. His father was a "vexelier" (person who deals in currency exchange rates) who died when Kai was 7 years old. Kai's mother was of English decent. I do not know their names. Kai grew up to be a veterinarian. His first wife's name was Ellen. She died in childbirth. Then in 1927 Kai married Karla Anita Sorensen and they had four children. I am looking for information Kai's parents. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Brix family from Minn/St Paul area

I'm looking for descendants of Wilhelm Brix,
who, with his brother Charles, had the Brix
butcher shop in Minneapolis. Charles moved
to Great Falls, Montana, about 1905, and I
am a descendant of him. I'd like to know
which part of Germany this branch of the Brixes
came from. My grandmother's family (geb
Hüftle)were from Wüstenrot (east of Heilbronn) in southwest
Germany (Wurttemberg). I have very little information about
him, other than he served under General Pershing
in the early 1890's at Ft. Assiniboine near
Havre, Montana and was the sausage maker for
the butcher shop. He died in 1936 in Basin,
Montana. I have determined him to have been
born in approx. 1863, because he was 12 years
older than my grandmother, who was born in
1875. I would appreciate hearing from anyone
who knows something about him. I would like
to learn more about this branch of the Brix
familie.
I am Sandra (Brix) Gillespie, my father was
Alfred Karl Brix, born in 1901, died in 1995,
and I live in Yuma, Arizona.
Thank you.
