My wife's gr-gr grandfather was William Brixey, born about 1840. I am not absolutely certain, but I believe he may be the "William" in the 1850 Census in McDonald Co., Missouri. This William married Elizabeth Scott and moved to Boone Co., Iowa after the war.
I can fill you in on some of William's descendants. E-Mail me and I will send you what I have.

I am looking for more information on the Family of Barney Brixey. He married Mary(Polly)Henry before 1824 poss. in Tennessee. In 1850 census the family was in McDonald Co., Missouri with the following children: John, James, William, George W. and Columbus. Need to find this family on 1860 census. Possibly there was another child born around 1851 - Tillman B. Brixey, b. in Missouri. The family went to Washington Co., Arkansas after the death of Barney Brixey in 1863. Any and all information greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone Please Please!!! Help!!!!
I am looking for Arthur Evans Born abt 1854 in Wisconsin But came to Michigan don't know when. I am looking to find out who his parents are . He was married to Ann Evans who Was born in abt 1855 in Ireland. They Had a son John Evans born I think March 3, 1978 in Union City MI and died May 12th,1909 of appendicitis. John was married to Margaret Evans(Kidney), John had two children Henry and Irene by Margaret. After John Died she married Deforest Lovejoy. They lived in Sherwood Michigan. Henry Evans married Dema Drake in June of 1928 in Branch county Michigan
Arthur and Ann also had
Edgar or Edd born abt 1879
Charles or Charlie born about 1882,
Helen born about 1875, and Helen married Leo J Roan and lived Clarendon Michigan, Helen I think died abt Feb 1995. I find Arthur living with them in 1920, then living with his son Gorge in 1930 in Lansing Michigan
George born about 1882 possibly George and Charles are twins?
Anyway I think Arthur died in either Branch county MI or Calhoun County. In the 1910 Census it says Arthur was widowed. The last I see of Arthur and Ann together is in the 1900 Census living in Burlington Michigan. I would like to know when Ann and Arthur Evans Died and where they are buried if possible. I would like to find out who Arthur’s parent. I have been exploring every website I can.
I would appreciate any help as I am at a dead end.
Thanks
Kim

Sue: Have you ever found the parents for Tillman B. Brixey (father of Wm. Henry)? I found Tillman living with a family by the name of Wm. H. Mays on 1870 census in Arkansas (Washington Co., Brush Ck Twp., Page 2/3) and his mother, Mary living with family of Milton Darneal (again, Wash. Co., Brush Ck. Twp., Pg. 12). It appears she was widowed by that time. Tillman was 19 and Mary's age was given as 60 (believe that may be off by a couple of years) I cannot find them in 1860 census. Any help you are able to give is very much appreciated.
Carol Lay (glay@centurytel.net)

Walton Brixey is my 3rd great also. His daughter Parthena Caroline Brixey married my great great grandfather, Thomas Gilliam. And that is what got me started with this stuff.

Re: James (Silvey) Brixey

Sorry, I haven't updated this in a long time. James Brixie was of Irish descent. His family immigrated before the potato famine. The research points to them going to Scotland first. I have not as yet confirmed this against immigration records. We do know that the Brixie brothers were involved in the surveying of Louisana for the Louisana purchase. We do know that one of the Brixies owned a plantation in Lousiana. We also know that they owned slaves. The story is that the picture of James in uniform during the civil war. It's reported he was not happy about serving and objected to owning slaves. Again this has not been verified. It's also reported that the Brixie's married cherokee women. I have not researched the Guillion roll's yet, this if family story's only. It's reported that the Cherokee women were disowned by thier tribe and they took white man's names. Again not verified yet.

James Silvey/Brixey

Another family story suggests James was an illegitimate son of James Brixey (b.1814, son of John Brixey m. Eliz. Robertson; Temperance Cates' husband) and an Irish washerwoman, surname Silvey. He spent part of his youth on the Brixey plantation in Barry Co., MO. I haven't seen any real documentation to this effect.

Whatever his parentage, it looks as though James Silvey/Brixey was born between 1837 1844 in MO. His wife was Lucinda Haynes/Hanes/Haines, a Kentucky Cherokee (at least half). Their children, surname Brixey, were Mary Ann [m. Shimmels], Marion Francis "Boss", John Allen, James Garfield, and Ida Melissa "Dank" [Moore]. Dank Boss' families moved to Louisiana. James and Lucinda are supposed to be buried at Aunt Dilly Cemetery, Round Mountain, Perry Co., Arkansas.

Angela- Some researchers have Temperance Cate's parents as Ephraim Cates and Rebecca Lindsay of NC. They went to Christian Co. KY about 1809 and to Coffee Co. TN I think by 1813. I was under the impression that except for a few kids born in KY, all others were born in TN. Some researchers have Temperance's birth in 1817 in Elbert, GA.
Temperance was the sister to my ancestor James Lindsey Cates born in KY in 1810. Please e-mail me Butzowfarm@aol.com Do you know when and where Temperance was married or when/where she died?
Marguerite
