Brizzi, and Pascarella? I vaguely remember a Luke Pascarella, who was a licensed funeral director and kept his license on the wall in my family's funeral home in Brooklyn,NY. Get in touch with the chapel, maybe they can help. As for me, I'm like the Count of Monte Cristo; forgotten as dead.

Having grown up as a gutter kid since the ripe old age of nine, take a hint from the first two minutes of dialog and the final two minutes of dialog from the movie Hellboy. It's the decisions we make and how we achieve making and eventually leaving, the world a better place for the generations, yet unborn. We came to America for a reason. We wanted to face forward, not the past. Everyone I ever met having this last name truly is, a hard worker, a family oriented person, and, an American. I'm the patriarch of my family and have little knowledge of who we were, but I sure as hell, know where we are headed. I will never be rich. The best I can ever hope for is to have a steady job (to pay bills...my last vacation 6/1971). I know that blood betrays, but it never lies. We are who we are. Do Good! That's my Order to everyone. Almighty God will settle the account.

Dear Kathy,
In responding to Sarah Brizzi's request I included some information that may interest you, since your grandparents came from the same region as my father. The people from Calabria are referred to as Calabrese.
I have just discovered this site and am amazed at how many people have the name Brizzi. While growing up, my family was the only one in in all of Beaver County so, I always assumed that it was a rare name. I did learn, many years later, that there were 2 brothers with the same surname in our city who had been abandoned, along with their mother, by a Brizzi. Their mother remarried a man named Lombardo who adopted them so, naturally, they took on his name. We are not related, though.
Anyway, hope you pull up the message I sent to Sarah and check it out. Something tells me that the name 'Brizzi' in Calabria could very well be like 'Smith' is in the States! Oh well, it's fun just to dig up all of this. Aren't PC's great?!
Sincerely, Helen Gillingham

Dear Sarah,
My father, Antonio (Anthony) Francis Brizzi, was born in San Mario, Riggio, Calabria, Italy, 8/9/1889 to Rosario (Ross) and Maria Ferro Brizzi. He had An older sister, Francesca, and two older brothers, Laverio and Salvatore. I haven't discovered their birth dates, as yet. Their mother, Maria, died, either when my father was born or shortly thereafter. Ross remarried (do not know her name) and sired another son, Peppino. As far as I can ascertain, Francesca and Peppino remained in Italy and Laverio and Salatore emigrated to Austrailia. My father came to U.S. in 1906 becoming a citizen on 9/2/1919. I don't have any information on any of the family's offspring except Peppino -- he had 2 sons -- the oldest named Cosimo, and a daughter named Rosetta. These children would have been young adults in the 40's. All of this information has been gleaned mostly from old family pictures, documents, and what I can remember being told. My father never visited the 'old country' and was not very forth-coming with details about his childhood --except that his step-mother was very mean. From the family portrait that I have, I can certainly believe that. Of course, I've never seen an old photo where anyone looked anything but glum. Must not have known about the 'cheese' thing back then. Personaly,I prefer the word 'beans'-- more natural smile. Try it sometime. Hope this sheds some light on your search. I can be contacted at gillatbf@brads.net
Sincerely, Helen B. Gillingham
