Am looking for information on John Broabent who married Maria Elliot Braithwaite on 22 May 1817 in Bradford. They had at least one child - George Adam - who went to Victoria, Australia in 1857. Unsure if other family members also went to Australia. Would like to know more about John and Maria and if they had any other children. I know quite a bit about George's descendants if anyone is interested. Thank you.
Christine

I just started researching the Broadbent family in the last couple of months, wanting to learn more about my dad's stepfather's family. I found his father, Carl William (or William Carl..I have an uncle named after him) Broadbent, and his mother, Ella J, with the help of my mom. The children (except for two who were born somewhere in Illinois) were born in Beloit, Mitchell, KS. Carl and Ella moved their family to Nevada, Missouri after 1930 and later died there.

I would like to find out more information on Carl's grandfather, Benjamin Broadbent, who married Sarah Hilton. Both were born in England but that is all I know.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Elizabeth

They were William, Fred, George, and James Edward Broadbent. James was born circa 1805. I was told they separated and moved to different states. Thanks.
I have a John Broadbent born 30 May 1830 at A-U-L. His parents were Samuel and Nancy Shaw Broadbent.
I have an intersting story about John. In this same town was a John Butler born in 1830. They both migrated to Luzerne Co. Pa. They married the same woman- a widow, Margaret Harris, widow of John Woods. Broadbent married her next and when he was killed in the CW Butler married her..There has to have been a connection between these two men in England-but what?
I believe John Butler was a son of James and Maria Cummins Butler. One of John Broadbent's grandsons had the middle name of Cummins. Was he related to this family, too?
I am willing to share the information I have in exchange for your information.
Jean
Charles L. BROADBENT was an engineer in New York City, NY. He married Louisa ANDERSON in 1889 in Manhattan and they had at least one child, Helen (b. 28 April 1890). Both Louisa and Helen were born in New York City.
After Charles died Helen and Louisa lived at 26 W. 89th St., Manhattan. They appear to have been quite well off.
Helen never married.
I derived most of the above information from ship manifests posted on the Ellis Island website. This family completed several transatlantic crossings, as well as sea voyages to Havana, Bermuda and St. Johns, Newfoundland. I am seeking info about this family and links to their forebears.

Broadbent/Broadbelt, Isaac; Owston, Lincoln, England

We have traced our branch of the Broadbent family back to Isaac Broadbent, who married Sarah Pycock in 1767, in Owston, Isle of Axholme, Lincoln, England. Church records have been searched back to 1599, but there are no earlier references to Broadbents/Broadbelts.
We believe that Isaac was born elsewhere, and settled in Owston (Ferry) after marrying Sarah. The where from is the question. One possibility is Calverly. Does anyone know of a connection.

We also have a number of records on another Isaac and Sarah Broadbent's who had a number of children in Owston between 1810 and 1830. Connection unknown as no baptism of an Isaac was located in the records.

There were earlier records on the Pycock family going back to the early 1600's.
We have information on church records for the Broadbent and Pycock lines to 1831 in Owston Parish, Lincoln, England.

I am trying to locate any details about a male BROADBENT family member. His name was probably(?) Bill/William and for some time he lived with a COPELAND family but he was finally a committed patient in the Menson Asylum (High Royds Psychiatric Hospital) situated between Bradford and Leeds, West Riding, Yorkshire, England. He probably would have been in Menson sometime between 1945 and 1960.
WARD may be another associated name

Jim
I am looking for information concerning Jerene Broadbent, born in Dickenson, North Dakota, August 24, 1892, and died in Tuscon, Arizona, November 20, 1989. Her parents are Jeremiah Broadbent (ca1856-) and Lula Ann Clark (1873-1914). Jerene is probably my father's birth mother. I have fairly substantial evidence in this regard but would like to confirm this data.

Also, I wish to contact Jerene Parkman, Director of Communications, Department of Physics, University of Arizona, concerning Jerene. Jerene Parkman is a great niece of Jerene Broadbent and has promised to look into family history concerning her. If you know the above Jerene Parkman or anything about Jerene Broadbent, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,
Bob Francis

Does anyone recognize this Broadbent Family? From the Fed. Census, 1850: PA., Philadelphia:
William head b. 1800, Eng., Farmer
Mary wife b. 1805, Eng.
Richard son b. 1834, Eng.
William son b. 1836, Eng.
Mary dau b. 1840, Eng.
Robert son b. 1842, Eng.
Eliza dau b. 1844, Eng.

This same family appears in the 1860 Fed. Census: Illinois, Henry Co., Annawan Twp., Annawan, House 1926, Dwelling 1842, p. 790.

Judging from the names of the neighbors this Broadbent family is living (1860) in the same house occupied by my gggrandfather, William Broadbent, b. 1822, ten years earlier. I doubt that this is a coincidence, and would like to know if there is a close relationship, but cannot find this family of seven in the 1870 federal census. Any input would be helpful.

Looking for my grandfather, Joseph Broadbent

I'm trying to locate information about my grandfather, Joseph Broadbent. We believe he resided in Lynn, Massachusetts or thereabouts around 1917 or 1918 and worked for International Harvester at that time. He probably traveled to Maine and perhaps surrounding states in his work. He may have worked at a shoe factory near Paris, Maine before that time. Any information that might possibly lead us to information about this Joseph Broadbent and his ancestry would be greatly appreciated. We have very little to go on. Thank you,
Carol Rougvie

My father's family

Most of you are looking for a Broadbent from way, way back. As you can see from the subject, I'm looking for something a little more recent.

My father, Thomas Broadbent (I believe he had no middle name), was a police officer in Daytona Beach, Florida. I was born December 18, 1967; my parents divorced six months later. My mother remarried in 1969 and my stepfather legally adopted me, changing my name to what it is today.

My father died in 1974; I'm told he was the victim of a hit-and-run. I never knew him. I have no family information about him -- not even the names of my paternal grandparents or cousins on that side of my family. My mother's family doesn't have any information that can help me.

I'd like to find my father's family just to fill in the blanks in my mind. If you have any information that would help me in this area, I would greatly appreciate it if you shared it with me. If not, thank you for at least taking the time to read this message.

I can be reached at tom_kopacz at yahoo dot com.

Thank you.

Peter Harris Broadbent antecedents

Looking for ancestors of Peter Harris Broadbent, born c. 1859 in England. Listed in 1880 US census as a farmer in Trigg Co., Kentucky, living with brother John. Both Peter and John were listed as having been born in England. Later married Katherine 'Kitty' Jones, daughter of James Richard Jones and Josie Adams.

I have a few names, but it's uncertain where they fall in the line. One is Robert Broadbent and Mary Harris; in my listing based on family bibles these were Peter's grandparents, and they came from England in 1840 and settled in Brooster, Ky. [That sort of contradicts the census records regarding Peter's birthplace, unless they went back and forth]. Robert's father was a Sir Robert Broadbent, listed as a doctor. (I vaguely remember stumbling over a Broadbent who was a doctor who was knighted for service to Queen Victoria, but I don't remember his full name [that would be a bit much to hope for--it would certainly make it easier to track]. Obviously I need to go back and see if there's a connexion.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
