Hello, Pell,

You have been a busy man. I will make comment on what you have found at the Kentucky History Center in the hope of adding to your research on Morris Brady. I have tried for years to make a connection from Morris Brady to Richard Brawdy, Broady, Brody, Brady. I do not think they are related. As far as I know none of the descendants of Richard Brawdy / Brody and Rhoda Bozorth / Bozarth have been named Morris. Here is some of what I have on Morris Brady:

Morris Brady recieved 300 acres by a Treasury Warrant on dividing ridge between the Rolling and Beech Fork of the Salt River on waters of Pottingers Creek. 24 Jun 1780.

Morris Brady was married to Susannah "Garrett" on 4 Mar 1790 in Nelson County by Josiah Dodge. Your record showed her as Susannah Pottinger with the same date. Actually Morris Brady's wife was Susannah (Vanmeter) Garrard, widow of Rev. John Gerrard, and not a Garrett. Susanna, d/o Jacob Vanmeter and Letitia Strode, was born 2 Jul 1750 in Frederick County, Virginia, as was the Jonathan Bozorth you mentioned.

Rev. John and Susanna (Vanmeter) Garrard / Jarrard had four daughters before he was captured by Indians and died ca 1782. They were:
1. Mahetabel Garrard - b. 1769; d. 17 Oct 1839, Hardin Co, KY; m. 3 Mar 1789, Nelson Co, KY to Hardin Thomas (1766-1837)
2. Sarah Garrard - b. ca 1771; d. bef 1842; m. 1 Dec 1789, Nelson Co, KY to Adam Miller
3. Margaret "Peggy" Garrard - b. 27 Jul 1774; d. 13 Aug 1822 Hardin Co, KY; m. 28 Mar 1793, Nelson Co, KY to Samuel Goodwin (Margaret Jarrard, d/o John Jarrard, dec'd, chose Morris Brady as her guardian - 14 Oct 1790)
4. Letitia Garrard - b. 2 Jan 1776, Monongalia Co, VA (now Greene Co, PA); m. 21 Apr 1796, Nelson Co, KY to Thomas Miller. (Morris Brady also appointed guardian to Lettice Jarrard, infant of John Jarrard, dec'd, on 14 Oct 1790)

Nelson Co, KY - Deed Book IV, page 219 -- 21 Nov 11790 - Thomas McCarty to Margt & Lettice Garred and their guardians, 40 Pounds, 400 acres on Freemans and Severns Valley Creek. (I have further land recrods if you are interested.)

Children of Morris Brady and a probable first wife (Could she be Susanna Pottinger? - possible land record connection):
1. Jonathan Brady - b. unknown; d. bet 24 Jan 1803 (date of will) and 21 Mar 1803 (date of probate); m. Elizabeth
2. John Morris Brady - b. unknown; d. unknown; m. 21 May 1804 Hardin Co, KY to Nancy Rhoads
3. Sarah Brady - b. unknown; d. unknown; m. 1791, Nelson Co, KY to Samuel Snyder
4. Margaret "Peggy" Brady - b. unknown; d. unknown; m. 22 Sep 1799, Nelson Co, KY to James Harrell
5. Mary "Molly" Brady - b. unknown; d. unknown; m. James Stuteville
6. Eleanor Brady - no further information - just her name
7. Ann Brady - b. unknonw; d. unknown; m. 8 Nov 1802, Hardin Co, KY to Willis Linden

There may be more for them on the Internet. I haven't checked that out as yet.

Please note that the Nelson County marriage record for Richard Brody as a Brady is incorrect. The original record shows his name as Richard Brody and shows John Bozorth as surety. Rhoda and John were children of Joseph Bozorth and Elizabeth _______ of Frederick County, Virginia and Nelson Co, Virginia - District of Kentucky. Joseph's will in 1790 was witnessed by son-in-law Andrew Reed not Andrew Rud.

The Jonathan Bozorth and Mary Hargis you mentioned was a younger brother of Joseph Bozorth. They were my husband's 3 great grandparents. Jonathan's descendants remained in Hardin, Ohio and Grayson Counties while descendants of Joseph Bozorth had moved to Christian County before 1810 and then on into Howard County, Missouri by 1819. Joseph's son Levi was in White County, Tennessee by 1812.

Thank you again for all the help you have been. Maybe together we can come up with all the "right" answers.
