Surnames: Broady, Brawdy, Broddy, Williams, Collins
I am primarily researching Joseph Broady and have run across multiple references to Richard Brawdy or Broady. There are two sites that delineate the known historyof the Broadys. Leon Wildes site about the Southern Maryland Broadys and Judith Wilson's site on Tribalpages about the Broadys.
Judith and I recently travelled to Adams Co Illinois to research several family lines. I ran across multiple entries for Richard Brawdy, Richard A. V. Brawdy, Israel and Caleb Brawdy. There were multiple land transactions and I didn't copy all of them. Richard Brawdy and his wife Rhoda sold two pieces of land in Adams Co. Illinois in July 1829.
Richard Brawdy died in late 1830 or 1831. There is an entry in the Adams Co. Illinois Probate index for Richard Brawdy(Dec'd), Arch Williams ADM., Nov 23, 1833. The county clerk was unable to locate this record- supposed to be in book 86. The LDS church has microfilmed many of the Adams Co records, so there may be a record of this. There is a record of a Richard Broady appearing in Chauncery court in October 1831.
Another Richard Broady was in Washington Co KY and died in late 1826. He appeared to live near my Joseph before Joseph moved to Scott Co Indiana before 1820. Joseph is Joseph Broddy in Scott Co 1820.
A son of Joseph, John Calvin Broady(b. 1812 in KY)My ggggrandfather, enlisted in the Blackhawk War in Adams Co in 1832. Several of Joseph sisters were married to Collins brothers and were in Adams Co in early 1830 or before.
This is all a long winded way of saying there are multiple clues here that the families are related. I think Richard and Joseph may be brothers. I will share what I have. Some of the microfilmed data and the deeds didn't copy perfectly. Pell
