My windle ancestors came from county limerick Ireland. My Ggrandmother elizabeth windle emigrated to vicgtoria Australia in 1852, her father was Henry Windle of Shanagolden Co limerick Ireland. I had not thought about the name being of german origin, thought perhaps english.

This is Adam Brobeck (Adam Brodbeck) immigrant ancestor born in Switzerland, died bef. 25 Mar 1779 (will probated),
married first Elizabeth Zehnder.

Lived on Tumbling Run near where it crosses Interstate 81, old land grant a few miles west of present day Strasburg VA probably a part of the 1766 patent to Adam Brewback.

Her parents were Isreal Brobeck. He was born in Mercer Co., OH. He died April 28, 1899 and is buried in Mount Hope cemetary in Mecosta, MI. He married Marnevia Wolley November 6, 1856 in Runion Co., Gerome Twp., OH. They had eight children.

He served in Co. K, 178 Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

Not certain whether I should reply to you or to David Boroff but am certain I am related to you at least. My great grandmother was Nancy Brobeck b Oct 1869 in Ohio. she was married to William Rickey b May 1851 in Ohio also. In the 1900 US Fed Census, Ohio, Mecosta County, Morton Twnshp, they were both living with the Peter Boroff family and it states the relationship was brother-in-law. Can either of you shed any light on my relatives? I have been searching for a long time!

My Sister and I have just got started. We have been going thru old family pictures trying to give them a name. Mary Jane Boroff was the 2nd daughter and 2nd child of Glendorah Brobeck and Peter Henry Boroff. Mary Jane Boroff was born on September 08,1885 in Grover Hill Twp. Latty Co. Paulding Ohio. She died September 30,1980 in Flint, Mi she is also buried at Mount Hope in Mecosta. She was married to Benjamin Harrison Geesey He was born on October 09,1889 in Van Wert Co. Ohio Hd
e died on July 17, 1977 in Flint MI he is also buried at Mt Hope. They had 8 children that lived to adulthhood

I have traced the Brobeck line from Beaver Co., PA to Shenandoah Co. VA. Others suggest that the line continues back to Switzerland via Adam Brodbeck, though I am unconvinced. Anyone have any evidence on this point?

Hi Janney !!!! Great to hear from you. Glendorah b.28 Dec. 1871 Ohio married Peter H. Boroff 1May1891 Paulding Co. Oh. d. 1947. Both are buried together in Mt. Hope Cem. Mecosta, Mich. I have 9 children from 1900-1910-1920 Cenuses of Mecosta Co. That is all I have on this marriage, but I have all of the descendants of Peter's brother's and sisters. Sorry Paddy, I cannot offer any help. I do know that several Germans went to Ireland and then later to America. Some did not even know that they were of German stock.
My WENDEL family came over in 1732 from Frammersheim, German which is close to the Rhine.
