Bill,It's nice to hear from you. Henry & Caroline Pfeiffer also named one of their sons Obediah. He is their 5th son.
A common practice in some German families was to name the 1st born son after the child's paternal grandfather. The 2nd born son was named after the maternal grandfather. The 3rd born son was named after the father. In some families the 3rd son was named after the father's oldest brother and the the 4th son after the father. Also the 4th son was sometimes named after the father's father's father,5th son after the mother's father's father, 6th son after the father's mother's father and 7th son after the mother's mother's father.
Back then everything was about family. I do believe there is a possibilty of Adeline being a Brobst and her mother a Ziegler who may have married a Brobst. 1860 Census Southwhitehall,Lehigh confirms Henry Brobst B1799 lived with John and Ellen Vansyckle Pfeiffer.Ellen Vansyckle is the daughter of James and Adeline Vansyckle. Does this Henry appear in your family tree? Does the name Alwine mean anything to you? Do you have any knowledge of Henry & Caroline Pfeiffer. I'm not sure but I think she may have been a Reichard. Again it was all about family. Somehow they are connected. I just can't link them Do you have any idea?
I truly appreciate you taking the time to help me. You're work is remarkable! Outstanding. Thank you for sharing your information with me. My email:
