where does the Broce name originate?

Broce origins

A relative of ours researched the Broce name in the 1930's. The genealogy resource she used placed the first ancester as Jacob Broce, a Hessian soldier brought over as an endentured soldier during the Revolutionary War. He stayed in the Staunton, VA area and descendents migrated to Blacksburg, VA where there is a Broce Drive, down into the Bristol, TN area. At that point, one brother went on to CA. My great-grandfather, George Washington Broce settled in Sullivan Co. TN.

I found a Broce village in Croatia (vis the internet). Some sources show the spelling of our name as Bros, but that is incorrect.
