Hi:
My husband descendants are of William Brockie b. 1750 in Aberdeenshire. Some later came to Ontario, Canada. I don't think there were any relatives from the areas you mentioned. But that doesn't mean there isn't a connection somewhere.
Regards,
Sue

I think I have living relatives in Long Island as well.

My Father was Thomas Adam Brockie, born Oct. 17,1926 in Stratford, Ontario Canada. His Father was Thomas Brockie, born Nov.13,1901 in Motherwell Scotland, (surname could possibly be Brown, I had heard something years ago that he was adopted and that his name got changed to Brockie, but I dont know if there is any truth to that) If you can help with any of this please do. My Father and Grandfather both have passed on and I am trying to find out all about my family that I can. They both passed away in Michigan, my Father in 1986, and my Grandfather, April 23, 1973. Thank You!

The Brookie spelling is entirely new to me. I also note you're connected to the Brockies in the south--which number at least 10-1 those in the north. I'm seeking parents for my William b. cr 1750 in Aberdeenshire--or possibly Banff. William's only son, John b. 1797, migrated in 1837 to Ontario with his wife and first 5 kids. I'm trying to figure out whether this William was actually born to Hector Webster [his 3rd son] his wife, Elizabeth BROCKIE--whether he took his grandfather's name lest her family name ended with her [Elizabeth]. Most likely, my Brockies are from the Old Machar parish--and I've just got a missing birth record.

Brockie is a very rare surname in the U.S.--and in Canada, too. The few I've located are all related to me! Tell me, are you a Brockie or Brookie?

Please write to me directly at uhler@dim.com so we can compare notes.

Thanks

brookie/brockie Sct. 1750's

I have been looking for Brockie connections
of this era also. Our John Brockie's name was
changed to Brookie when he immigrated around 1776.
He was the son of Walter and Margaret Auchinlect (Afflect),
born in 1756, in the Edinburg Parish. I would
like to find ancestors and descendants. The
Brockie name seems to have been more common in
Scotland than here in the USA. Our John came to Pa, moved to
Kentucky then north to Frankfort IN (he died
somewhere along the way but his family continued
on).
We have met Brookies who immigrated to
New Zealand in the 1850's. They think their
ancestor came from the northern part of Scotland. I haven't been able to
absolutely connected with them yet. If you find
patterns of family migration I would be interested
sharing details with you.
I don't check this message board very often
I am trying to get a Brookie/Brockie listing on
GenForum. If you have found other's to share
notes with we might have better luck getting a surname
for us.
Hope you find some answers about the
Brockie's.
Barbara
