Hello Janet,

My 3 x great grandmother was Ann Bromwich, born c1749 in Churchover, near Rugby, Warwickshire. My 4 x great grand father was John Bromwich, born c1723, in Hillmorton, near Rugby. My 5 x great grandfather was Thomas Bromwich, born c1691 in Hillmorton.
There are earlier entries in the parish register where the name is spelt Bromitch. The Bromwich name crops up many times in the Rugby area parish records. Rugby is situated close to the borders of Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire so the name is also found over the borders in other local villages.
I hope that this is of some interest to you.
Regards,
David

Wellings..Otherwise--Wellan, or Wellynge in salop.
Wellings came into and exploded about 1450 plus+
Robert Wellynge; fought in battle of Azincourt, was
listed among the Lances. Commended for bravery and
invited by the king to join his company of esquires.
Others also fought in France. Knights John , and William
others were Templars, and Hospitilers.Yet others, were
merchants, and travelled widely. one William, was complaining---
about the king of Bavaria confisticating his goods
I also found interesting, Welling, is name of an old
and ancient German town in Rhyneland. Now ime with the guy who said Wellings came down out of the sky. And like mushrooms appeared in the morning sun.
Concidering they soldiered all through Christian Europe,
and travelled as merchants also in Europe, and beyond.
Legend has Lord Wellynge, fighting in the crusades and on
entering Jerusalem, he defended ST Salome's chapeal, protecting her remains and was given by the afore mentioned ST; a Brooch of rare beauty.By her apparition,so
long it remained in Wellinge keeping they would be lucky.
Wellings also tied into majority of noble families
of England. One was a Tutor to the Dauphine in middle ages.
So which ever mushroom you spring from --remember?
there has to be a first and your decended from
the best.
Re-search by C J F.......Cpy rgt

Do you have a family tree I could look at? I have drawn a complete blank looking for htem once they moved to Pennsylvania although I do know that my Grandad Isaiah lived with them for a few years before 1914.

My maternal side is Bromwich. So far have got back to William Bromwich, b Crick c1857. In the 1881 Census he was living in Bristol (where my mum is from) with his brother Oliver's family, and I think their father would have been William. Other family members retained a presence in Crick into the early 1900's.

Wonderful stories about a family named Bromwick neighbors of Perkins in Philadelphia. I am sure probably not same family but a Bromwich family. You see I too, am searching any Bromwick/Bromwich families in London and the surrounding area. I do know that "a" Thomas Bromwich , London is listed with the parrish of St George of Hanover. And I believe that this Thomas Bromwich maybe an uncle to my ancestor. My name is EJ Bromwich.

Hello Rebecca, I, too, and searching the Bromwich lineage in London, St Pancras and Holborn areas. My ggggrandgather was named Uriah William Bromwich whose father was John Bromwich (listed on marriage certificate)1837. Their family included brother and sisters plus parents somewhere in the names. Maybe we have a connection. Here is hoping.

Thomas Bromwich Papier Mache Maker d.1787 London

I am researching a branch of my family, the Isherwoods, in 18th Cent London. They were "Ornamental Decorators to King George III" but the origins of the Company they operated on Ludgate Hill in the City of London appear to lie with a particularly talented Papier Mache Maker, Thomas Bromwich, who died in Highgate in 1787. Henry Isherwood, my 4x Great Granduncle, married Thomas Bromwich's niece, Ann Maria, and went on to run the business before passing it to my 3x Great Grandfather, Nicholas Isherwood. Apparently Thomas Bromwich's work compared favourably with French stucco work - Walpole and the poet, Thomas Gray, were both regular customers of his. Can anyone tell me more about this accomplished chap and his family?

Hi Lauren,
Your grandfather Thomas Cyril BROMWICH was in Bridgnorth for the 1901 census. I have transcribed most of the Bridgnorth town census. Using those and other resources, I can trace back to your great, great, grandmother on the 1841 census.
Thomas Cyril’s parents were Thomas, born 1851 in Bridgnorth and Edith from Liverpool.
Thomas’s parents were Thomas, born 1805 in Wymington, Bedfordshire and Sarah REYNOLDS from Much Wenlock.
Including all their siblings, it gives approx’ thirty six people for your tree.
I shall email you direct with the full details as soon as it’s all typed up, approx six pages.
I am not researching this family, just trying to help. All information should be verified from original source material.
Hope it helps,
Gwynne
Transcribing all the Bridgnorth town census.
See my web page at http://www.chadwickg.freeserve.co.uk
Hello, I am started my searching just this year for any relatives with the first or middle name of Thomas as it has always been passed down to the males in the family as I understand it. The tradition continues today. My grandfather was Thomas Cyril Bromwich married to Martha Patricia Roberts. Thomas Cyril was born in Bridgnorth, near Birmingham, and Martha Patricia was born in Bourton-on-the-Water. My parents died early in my life and I don't have much family or subsequently much info.....so, if anyone knows anything, feel free to contact me. Tks. Lauren.

I believe that his father Uriah was one of the sons of a John Bromwich (listed on marriage certificate in 1837). I believe that Uriah had a brother named William and I am trying to prove it. Uriah, Sr was raised in London and the surrounding area.

Hi, I'm looking for info on a William Bromwich who was born in 1885 in London (St. Pancras, I believe). He married Charlotte Card and went on to have 7 children. I have found another William Bromwich from St. Pancras, London who was born in 1853 and was in the Royal Navy at the time of the 1881 census. Does anyone know if this could be his father? If anyone knows about the London Bromwich's I'd really appreciate some help. I've married into the Bromwich family and there's noone left in the family who can help me go any further back.

--Previous Message--
>If anyone has any info on Uriah Bromwich married to Jane Edwards in London, Eng. I would appreciate it...She is supposedly of Welch royalty and was lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria. I know that her parents were Edward Edwards and Jane (Bullis) Edwards. This is as far as I seem to get.

I've checked a comprehensive source titled *The Royal Household 1837-1897*, and there isn't any mention of a "Jane Edwards" listed as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria. With very few exceptions, RH lists all of the Queen's ladies-in-waiting, so if a woman isn't in that book, then she wasn't a lady-in-waiting for Queen Victoria.
