Mary Bronner is my fourth great aunt. Her maiden name was Norton and was born in NY. She is buried next to Jacob Bronner in the Van Riper cemetery in La Grange Township, Cass Co. Michigan. (Photo of headstone attached).

Mary's father was Christopher (baptized Christophel) Norton. He was born in Albany, NY about 1762. Served in the NY militia during the Rev. War and received a pension for it. I have addition children of Christopher in my tree. One additional child, Abram (baptized Abraham)Norton and his wife Lucy are also buried in the Van Riper cemetery.

I have additional ancestry information on this Norton family and some more on the Bronner Family.

Mary Norton Bronner of Cass Co., MI 1799 - 1887

From the Thursday, February 17, 1887, edition of the Niles Weekly Mirror, Niles, Berrien County, Michigan:

"Mrs. Mary Brenner* of Penn township, Cass county, mother of Mrs. J. J. Van Riper, died at her home Thursday, at the advanced age of 88 years. She was exceedingly hale and hearty up to a few days before her death."

*Based on census information and vital records, it seems that Mary's married name was actually BRONNER not Brenner. She was the widow of Jacob Bronner and their children were born in Oneida County, New York. Daughter Emily E. (aka Emma) married Jacob J. Van Riper. Emma died on February 26, 1914, in Buchanan, Berrien County, MI.

Not sure you are still active in your search. There is a Felix Bronner who lived in Stark, NY 1832 to 1840 time frame. In 1832 he had an elderly Christopher Norton living with him and his wife. I believe he married Lany Norton, one of my relatives. Your Felix could have been a descendant of his. I believe the Bronners and Nortons could have come from MA since there were at least 3 marriages between the families in the area of Albany, NY about 1820 to 1830. Albany is just west of the MA border.

Bronner-Bruner Family from Freemont Ohio

I am looking for Bronners from the Mullheim,Baden Germany. Many used the name Bruner as well as Bronner. I have a newpaper article from the early 1900's describing a picnic of the family at the home of Charles Bruner north of the four mile house in Fremont. Mentioned are: John Bronner, Edna Bruner, John Maurer and Rev. Bwoman as well as many more. The article also mentioned correspondence with the Burgermeister of Mullheim Germany regarding the family's history there. Additionally it indicates these individuals arrived in this country in 1840.
Any one with information please contact me at kimmccull@hotmail.com
Hi Melissa,
My Great Grandfather, Joseph Bronner, Jr. had a brother George, and a sister Theresa, and they were born in Alsace, in the late 1800s. At that time, it was under German rule, and was the town of Ingweiller, Germany. Following WW1, it became Ingwiller, France, which is what it is today. I have a family photo, and recently received a copy of my Gret Great Grandfather's bible family register. The Bible belonged to Joseph Bronner, Sr. and was presented to him in 1863. George A. Bronner was born Feb. 20, 1864 in Ingweiller, Germany and was the first born child. Next was my Great Grandfather, Joseph, Jr born in 1866, then came Charles in 1868, followed by Theresa in 1870, and then Lena in 1872, all born in Germany. The last was Harry, who was born in Cincinnati, in 1879. Does this sound like the family you are looking for?

I believe you are looking for The Joseph Bronner Family. She was the sister of my great grand father Joseph Bronner, Jr. She is listed by the name Lena in our recored, probably because she was named after her mother, Magdelena Bronner (nee Osthiemer). According to her fathers bible from 1863, they lived in Ingweiler, Germany, now Ingwiller, France. That area is also known as Alsace, which at the tiome they migrated to the United States, it was under German rule. They lived in Cincinati, Ohio. I have a family photo, and have been working with Kathy Brooks, who lives in Florida. Lena was born in Ingweiller, Germany in December 1872. Please contact me if this is the correct family and you would like to discuss this.
Son of:

Martin Bronner (?, Ingwiller- 1847, Ingwiller)- Madeleine Jacobi (1765, Menchhoffen- 1841 or 1844, Ingwiller). Son of:

Joseph Bronner (1720/1, Dietenheim, Germany- Ingwiller)- Elisabeth Marie Ohlman (1715, Ohlungen, Alsace- 1801, Ingwiller).

I have information on each generation including some birth, marriage and death records on couples and some children.

My Mary Bronner (son of Peter) was married on Dec. 27, 1861 in the United States (California, I think) and she died in California in 1932. I don't have a specific birthdate for her. Do any of these statistics match your Maria?

I just found a Batista Broner buried in the same Pioneer cemetary in California as my Mary (Maria) Bron(n)er's husband's family. His name is Batista Broner and he was born in Quinto, Ticino Switzerland in about 1831. Ever run across that name? There is also a record of an Antonio Broner and a Serafino Broner living in the same county in the late 1800's.

Anne,
There is no Batista Bronner (Broner) born in this branch of the family in Quinto in the 1830's that I know of. The closest name I have to Serafino is Cherubino and we know that he came to NYC. There is a Giuseppe Antonio born 3.8.1833 to Peter Bronner and Margherita Pedroli. I don't have any additional information on him. He could be your Antonio. I have a Constantino born 8.8.1831. No additional information on him. Let me know if this helps.
Elaine

Bronner born 16 Feb 1798 and his wife Margherita Pedroli born 31 Aug 1802. Do you have any information earlier than this? My husband is the grandson of Daniel J. Bronner from Bloomingburg, NY.

After searching through the "Family Trees", I have come across a tree for a George Bronner who is listed as being married to a Minnie and whose mother's and father's names are Mary and Charles Bronner. George is also listed as having five other brothers and sisters; Mary Magdaline, Charles, Louis, Lena, and Theresa. I believe that this George would be my great-grandfather. If anyone has any other information on this particular George Bronner, please contact me.

Melissa

My grandmother, Minnie F. Bronner was married to Alec Grooms in Georgia about 1900. One daughter, Pauline, born 1919 and another, Willie Mae in 1920. Mr. Grooms died about 1922 and Minnie later married Jesse Collum and lived in Talladega, Alabama, where she had another daughter, Bertha , about 1923 and there she died of pneumonia in 1927. Any help in locating information on any of the afore mentioned will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Pete,

It was good to hear from you again. I am still looking into what I can on the Kentucky Bronner's to see if they connect in anyway, but so far nothing really has shown up. I did send away for a death certificate on a Joseph Bronner who died in 1913 in Cincinnati and am hoping it will lead to something. Congratulations on your new grandchild that is wonderful. Dan had sent me some pictures of all of you last Christmas, what a nice looking family to be related to.
Not sure if Dan filled you in but I am Caroline's grandaughter and Joseph's great grandaughter. I have 3 teenagers that keep me very busy. Mandy, Michelle, and Michael.

As soon as I find out anything I will definately let you know.

Connie

Joseph Bronner

Pete,

Just wanted to let you know I got the death certificate on a Joseph Bronner who died in 1913 and was born in Germany on Nov. 25, 1839. He died in Hamilton Co. and was buried in old St. Joseph's Cemetery. It lists his father as Ignatz Bronner and it has mother unknown. Does this sound like it could be our Joseph Bronner or not? It also say's that he was widowed so does not list his wife's name. Was hoping that this could possibly be Coffee Joe's father, but didnt you say his name might have been August too? Well, was hoping to get somewhere on this but don't know if this is anything or not.

Thanks,

Connie
