Classification: Query
Surnames: Bronson, Brownson, Curtis, Clark, Barnes
Herber B. Enderton connects Asa (Ashbell or Ashbel) Brownson (b 25 Oct 1733 Farmington Ct. - d. 27 Feb 1788 ), son of Benjamin and Martha (Barnes) Brownson, in marriage on 20 Jan 1857 with Achsah Curtiss daughter of Abner and Mary (Chapman) Curtiss. p 336
On the other Hand, Richard F Bronson connects Asa (Ashbell/Asahel) Bronson, Sr. (b. 25 Oct 1773 Southington, Hartford Co., CT - d. 27 Feb 1778 Valley Forge, Chester Co., PA) with the same Achsah Curtiss. However, this Asa is listed as the son of Jonathan and Abigail (Clark) Bronson. p. 11
The two researchers are in near agreement on the names and circumstances of the children of Asa and Achsah (Curtis) Bronson/Brownson. (Issac, Mary, Asa, Silas, Phinehas, Mary, Isaac, Temperence)
Enderton on page 49 does show Asa or Asahel Bronson, b 25 or 23 Oct 1833 Southington Ct; m 1 March 1758 but no spouse is given. He indicates that this Asa’s parents are Jonathan and Abigail (Clark) Bronson.
Richard F Bronson's paper is limited to one line and does not address Jonathan and Abigail (Clark) Bronson’s line.
Unfortunately, neither Enterton’s book or the R F Bronson’s article provide sources.
A 20 Jan 1757 marriage for Asa Bronson and Achsah Curtis is listed for Meriden, New Haven, Ct in Early Connecticut marriages as found on ancient church records prior to 1800
I am inclined to believe that R F Bronson’s focused work is more accurate but would appreciate anyone's pointing to addition clues and/or sources.
Many thanks.
