I was browsing Ancestry.com during their recent free access days and
came across several images concerning the Bronte family.

***************************************************************************************

The first was marriage particulars for a Emily Jane Bronte [a Post
Office Clerk, age 28, birthplace Rathfriland, Co Down] and William
Johnston Reynalds [a farmer, age 33, birthplace Ontario] on 22 June
1922 in York, Ontario, Canada.
The parents of Emily are given as William Bronte & Mary Henry and the
parents of William Reynalds as James Reynalds & Mary McNeill. The
witness are named as Branwell B Moore and Mary Lillian [could be May
Lilias] Moore.

I'm fairly sure that the Branwell B. Moore is in fact Branwell Bronte
Moore, a grandson of William Bronte & Mary Ann Honnah.

However I'm not at all sure who the others are and I don't have a
William Bronte married to a Mary Henry.

*****************************************************************************************

The second was an entry in an 1891 New York passenger list for the S.S
Circassia [sailing from Scotland to New York, arrival date 2 January
1891] for a Miss E. Bronte [age 18 from Ireland]

******************************************************************************************

The third is a US passenger list for the RMS Makura, sailing from
Wellington, New Zealand [NZ], date 21 April 1932 where a Madeline
Annie Bronte is listed. She is age 52, a widow, born in Co Armagh but a
NZ citizen.

**********************************************************************************************

The fourth is also a passenger list for the Wisconsin, arriving in New
York 28 June 1875 where a William Bronte [age 36] and his wife Annie
Bronte [age 37] are listed.

***************************************************************

Does anyone know where they fit into the Bronte family tree please?

P.S I've just found this which may help regarding Charlotte's death...no certainty but a name is put to the illness.

"Her death is now believed to have been caused by a condition known as 'Hyperemesis Gravidarun', which basically, is severe, persistent vomiting, typically occurring during pregnancy, and leading to dehydration and emaciation [hence, the original 'Phthisis' diagnosis] - easily treated today by attaching the patient to a drip"

Emory Bronte obituary, Tampa FL 1982

The Tampa Tribune, August 6, 1982, page D5

DEATHS ELSEWHERE

Emory Bronte, an aviation pioneer who navigated the first civilian single-engine flight between Hawaii and the West Coast in 1927, died Sunday in Honolulu. He was 80. Bronte made the historic journey across the Pacific with Ernest L. Smith in the "City of Oakland." The flight from Oakland Airport took over 25 hours and after two abortive landing attempts and running out of gas, they pancaked into a grove of trees on the Island of Molokai.
==============
I am not related to this family.

Emily/Anne Bronte - photographs?? Other Bronte queries...

Does anyone know of any accredited photographs taken of the famous writers Emily & Anne Bronte? I know that there is one photograph I have seen believed to be that of Charlotte but am unaware of any for the other 2 literary siblings...

Furthermore is there any surviving record of whether either the earlier born sisters, Maria or Elizabeth had any literary talent of note?? This would be most interesting to know!

Also, what was the general public view of the Bronte family at the time? I have heard that during the period of most of the writings the sisters were intentionally reclusive, but since they lived at at a parsonage one would perhaps surmise they were active churchgoers. (??) If so I wonder how well they engaged socially with their fellow parishioners?? Perhaps they just kept quiet about their writings??? I guess I simply question what sort of personalities they had...

Finally was it ever absolutely ptoven as to exactly what the sisters died from? Some say TB while other mention cholera/typhoid etc...

Can anyone please clarify these points?? Much appreciated.
Cheers,
Rob Bell, Essendon, Victoria, Australia..
