My own branch of the family are from Wakefield, about 9 miles from Leeds on the Sheffield side. But as you probably know the name Brooke is not unusual in that part of Yorkshire.
My father was born in Wakefield in 1923 and still has a good memory. I will ask him if he knew of any relatives that fit your description when I drive up to Yorkshire next week.
