My mother Monica was born in 1918 in Scotland and her mother who we believe was serving in the forces during the first world war brought her down to Manchester, England to be cared for. Unfortunately, for whatever reason she never returned after the war to take her back. She was later adopted. Apparently she had two sisters Mary and Florence, one was older and one younger. There is very little information about the family.

Does anyone remember this although it's so long ago now.

hi I'm Sam Brookfield, I live in Belgium but my father (Ian Cl Brookfield) was born in Doncaster in Yorkshire.. His father and mother were William Charlmers Brookfield and Brenda Brookfield. I know he had a few antique shops in Kirkby Lonsdale, and Scarborough I think.

and have names of their children, one of which is my grandmother, Frances Annie Brookfield m. Dr. Walter Graham 1903 in Liverpool and emigrated to British Columbia, Canada that year.

Siblings of Frances Brookfield are Samuel,Catherine(Kate),Grace, Janet(Jen),Bertha (Bertie), Harold, Albert, Douglas and Sidney.

Previous to my 1838 Brookfields, I believe I have located another Samuel Brookfield married to a Fanny France.(not confirmed).

Dorothy died June 30th 1874, not 1871, according to her and John's gravestone in St John's Crossens. I've got a photograph of it if you're still interested, I know this in an old post.

Hi: My maiden name is Brookfield, and William Brookfield born 1655, N.J. married Elizabeth (Bissett) around 1683. He had a son named Job (b. 1684 Elizabeth, NJ; d. 1733 Elizabeth N.J) and married a Sarah Vreeland. The name Jacob continues for three more generations, than finally an Edwin is born in Hamberstone, Ontario in 1839. Believe that they came across to Upper Canada as Loyalist

I have the Certified copy of Entry of Birth for Samuel Brookfield born October 16 1877 in Wrexham, Wales. to Edward Brookfield and Mary Jones.

I acquired this from the General Register Office while looking for a Samuel Brookfield in my family but this is not the one.

All I have is my grandfather was Charles Edward Goble born Apr 16,1883 Toms River, N.J. died June 7 1946 in the VA Hospt. Phila., Pa.. His wife was Martha Jane Neidig. Charles's Aunts and Uncles were:
Ella Goble-not married-no children.
Martha Goble Sample-married Mathew-no children.
Effie Goble Allen-married Theadore-2 girls
HARRISON BROOKFIELD GOBLE-2girls,1 boy.

Charles Edward Goble's parents were Charles Goble+ Sarah jane Marks.

I am helping a family friend do research on her family tree and she is related to Samuel, Brookfield. We are having a hard time trying to get back to the family in Scotland.

He came to canada in 1929 by way of Nova Scotia. He lived in New Market Ontario for years. If you think this may be the Samuel you speak of I would appreciate it if you can help us with ifo and maybe even tells us where we may be able to acqiure this book as well.

I have a grand father Albert Brookfield b.1862 - 1928 lived in Longton Staffs and married an Elizabeth Myatt, they had children. William(my father) May, Elizabeth, Albert and Twins Eva and Ronald(Ronald died soon after birth)

Descendents of John Brookfield (died 9-1-1877) who married a Dorothy Thomason 1794-30.6.1871), Their children =John(Thomason) 1815, Peter 1818 (married Jane), Richard 1823(also married a Jane), Alice 1825, William 1828 (married Margery),Isabella 1830 (married James Ainscough), Thomas 1833, Ann/Nanny 1836, James 1837 (married Charlotte Hodge), John 1844.

I am looking for Elizabeth Brookfield who married Mathias Johnson in 1746. They settled in Lower Bank, Washington Township, Burlington County, NJ. I am also looking for a William Brookfield - know nothing about him excepting that he is buried in Lower Bank and no date is visible on his stone.

Yes, it's quite possible your Harrison Brookfield Goble is connected to our Goble tree, however I checked the database and don't have his name listed. Could you provide a bit more information? When was he born? Do you know his parent's names? Was he from Morris County NJ? Thank you!

You throw me when you say Brookfields of Nova Scotia. My Brookfields are all of New Jersey, as far back as I know (England previous to that).

I don't have the Brookfield family book, but I did order it from
the local Family History Center, and copied several pages
which pertained to my line, which is as follows:

William Brookfield (b. before 1684)
Job
John
Rachel Brookfield, b. 1742-1750 who married Ephraim Goble
in Morristown, NJ

I don't show a Sam in my lineage, but then I don't have extensive records on the Brookfields.

The Brookfield line that I mention is from Morris County, NJ, rather than your Burlington...and they seem to be some distance away. I have two Elizabeth Brookfields, but show neither marrying Mathias (nor do the dates match)...

I have two Williams...Wm. Sr. born 1684 in England, died abt. 1712...don't know where he's buried, but his wife Elisabeth died 12 years later in Elizabeth, NJ.

Wm. Jr. I have no info on.

My source of both of the above is the Henry Morgan Brookfield book we discussed at the beginning of this thread...
"Genealogy of the Brookfield Family".

I ordered the Henry Morgan Brookfield book from my local
Family History Center. It's got some great Brookfield
background info in it, but nothing about Ephraim. In fact,
it says Rachel married "Goble"...not even a first name.

I printed the pages relating to the Morris Co. NJ Brookfields,
so I have the info if anyone is interested...but I'm still on the
great Ephraim Goble documentation search.

Harrison Brookfield Goble could be related, but I can't prove
it at this point. Any additional info appreciated. Date range?? County?? Anything??

I DO have several grandchildren (and gr-grandchildren) of Ephraim Goble and Rachel Brookfield Goble that have the middle name of Brookfield, so it was something that was "done" in the Goble clan.

My branch (Isaac Goble, son of Ephraim & Rachel) left New Jersey about 1803...believe he spent a few years in Vermont (no proof), then went to southern Ohio by 1810, then on to SE Indiana (Franklin Co) by 1830. All of Isaac's children settled "outside of NJ"...mostly Ohio and Indiana, a couple in SE Michigan. Maybe that will help you?

I also descend from the Brookfields of New Jersey. I have three Jacobs, but none seem to fit your profile. (The closest one was b. 1798, but d. 1828). Mine all stayed in NJ, at least for one more generation.

There is a great book in the Family History LIbrary (on film) on the Brookfield Family by Henry Morgan Brookfield. I've only copied my lines, so I don't have the pages. It's worth a look.

Looking for Steven Brookfield, son of David and Sybil Brookfield. David Brookfield was from Southport, Merseyside, England, but the family lived in Oxfordshire for a while, (around Banbury).

Steven moved to the US and is a university lecturer. He apparently has moved around the US but has been living in Minnesota and Washington.

He has two brothers, Peter and Andrew.

He has been researching his family tree and my mum and I are eager to find him in the US as we are researching the tree too and wonder if we have some useful information for him. My mum is Carol Nelson and she is his cousin.

Steven is near my mum's age, around mid 50's.

If anybody knows him or he reads this board as part of his research it would be great to get in touch.

Sorry to be so long getting back to you - pressure of work.

Henry Morgan Brookfield wrote two books on the Brookfield family. One is typewritten, the other published in book form.

The one I refered to is the typewritten one. At the back of the book is a chapter titled 'The Brookfield's of Nova Scotia'. Like you, I only copied that which applied to my line of research.

Which one did you read/copy?

Some of the Nova Scotia Brookfield's did move to the USA, I have some in New York, not far from New Jersey!

If you are interested in pursuing this line further, send me what you have and I will see if I can help you. I have them back to the 1600's in the UK.

Emma BROOKFIELD m. Garrett WALRADT, Wyoming Co. NY 1870s

I am trying to find out if and when Emma (Brookfield) Walradt died. I have found her living with her parents and siblings (along with her husband and one son, Albert) in Wethersfield, Wyoming Co. NY in the 1880 census.

It looks like Garrett Walradt had a second marriage about 1898 to Mary (Dutton) Latson. They are listed in the 1900 census, living in Warsaw, Wyoming Co. NY, with Mary's oldest son, John Latson.

If this is indeed the same Garrett Walradt, did Emma die? If so, what happened to Albert Walradt (because he is not listed with the Garrett Walradt married to Mary Latson)?

I am also researching the Brookfield family from North Meols. There is a mention of John Brookfield and Dorothy Thomason at the following link. http://www.a2a.pro.gov.uk/search/.
Type the name John Brookfield and search in the Lancashire Records. I have a list of many descendants from Thomas Brookfield of Banks from 1575. If you wish to have a copy let me know. It goes from 1575 until 1811 and after that I only have my descendants.

There's a Banks/North Meols Brookfield family tree back to 1600s in North Meols and Southport, A History by Peter Aughton. You can get the book from the North Meols Family History Society - their email and book details are on the web (via Google). The tree doesn't show an exact link into your late 1800 Brookfields, as the last generation in the tree are in the early 1800s, children of a Thomas Brookfield born 1778 and an Ann Wignall who married 30 June 1801.

Rheims Brookfield-Did he exist?

Does anyone know if a Rheims Brookfield ever existed. Supposedly he m. Emma (last name unknown) . Rheims was b. about 1830-40 perhaps in Michigan. They had a son Arthur b. 1856. By 1860 Rheims has died or disappeared. Emma lived with Cass Chapman family, Edward Griswold family and Arthur was with Franklin Chapman in 1870. All in Michigan in Berrien Co, Niles and Benton Harbor area. Rheims may have been related to Job Brookfield family of same area. Emma died in Omaha, age 42 in 1882. ANY info on any of these families would be greatly appreciated.
