Help finding John R. Brookhart b. July1860 Pa, date of death

Does anyone have any idea of how I can find the date of death for my g-grandfather, John R. Brookhart b. July 1860 in PA. I have followed him through the 1930 census, and the last information I have is when he signed my grandmothers delayed birth certificate on 14 Nov 1942 . At that time he was living in Williamsport PA and he would have been 82yrs old. I have gone through all of the PA newspapers on Ancestry.com and scoured the internet for his name at any of the PA cemeteries with lists. The only other lead I have is that his brother Robert A. Brookhart's (b. 1854 in PA) Obit said that Robert was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Butler Co. Pa on 5 Oct 1916. I have written to this cemetery to see if he may be buried by his brother but have my doubts because of the distance between Lycoming Co. and Butler Co. I have also looked to see if by any chance he was listed on the SS Death indexes but no luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Candace

Nita, This is in reply to part of your message about the Parkers. I'm no Brookhart expert. This is just something to note. The Briscoe, Brookhart, and Keller families intermarried big time. One of the girls married a Parker. I can't remember who but if you contact me at rchrdcck@aol.com, I'll look it up when I get time. (I just retired in Dec. and it will be a while before I unearth the info.) Catherine Brookhart married Henry Briscoe (in Am. Rev.). I descend through Catherine and her sister Barbara, who married a Starr. When I sent in my four DAR supplementals on this crew, I sent a diagram with each set of papers to help the "checkers" keep them straight. My first seven (?) generations on the papers were the same. You know what Jeff Foxworthy says about his family tree not forking much! Anyway, if you (or any of the other readers) can prove descent from Jacob Brookhart, be sure to also check the Daniel Keller family. Kathleen (STANFIELD) COOK

Re: Earl Brookhart

I found him! He was married twice and Alta was not mentioned in his obituary but their daughter, Donna, was. Here is his obituary:
"Strode Funeral Hoe will handle interment at Rose Hill Cemetery for Earle Gay Brookhart, 82, who died at the Stillwater(OK) Municipal Hospital Oct.20, 1979. Services will be conducted by Dr. Charles Hill at the Strode Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The family has suggested memorials to the Heart Fund.
Brookhart was born in Azen, Mo., July 25, 1897, to Al Lewis and Epha Brookhart. He and Roxie Looney were married Aug. 7, 1953 in Tulsa.
He was a salesman with General Sash and Door Co. of Tulsa from about 1939 to 1967. In 1938 he moved to Stillwater at which time he worked for Hoke Lumber. Later he developed Brookhart Addition.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion Post 129, and the Oklahome Lumberman's Assoc.
Besides his wife, Brookhart is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donna Jean Wald, Stillwater, two granddaughters, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Fay Andrew, Stillwater, and Mrs. Pauline Mays, Washington, Mo."

Earle's father was Aloysius Lewis Brookhart, his father was George Washington Brookhart, and his father was John Brookhart. John was a brother to my great-great grandfather Abraham Coler Brookhart. I can take you back several more generations if you are interested, as well as give details about families. An article about a Thanksgiving dinner at Aloysius' home mentions that Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brookhart of Rockford, Illinois were there so perhaps he and Alta lived there at one time.

(Earle was born one day after my dad who was also born in tiny Azen, Missouri. They must have known each other.)
Thanks for your reply. I don't know much about Earl other than his approx birthdate of 1894. Alta Lura was the daughter of William D. Powell , both born in Scotland County, MO. Alta was born about 1898. William's father was Thomas Francis Powell born in VA abt 1841.Not much to go on but that is all I have. In looking thru census images I see there are a number of Brookharts from Scotland County, Johnson Twp but I don't find Earl. I've only recently come to know he was married to Alta and haven't spent too much time trying to track him down. Let me know if anything sounds familiar.

Thanks again
Randy

Joseph Brookhart and Sophia Briscoe did have a son named Henry Philip born in Kentucky. Joseph was married three times----Catherine Numemaker date unknown, Catherine Hoke in 1827, and Sophia Briscoe in 1835. No children with first wife. With Catherine Hoke there were Mary Elizabeth, Lewis, Miranda, Peter Hoke, Isaac and Jacob Brookhart. With Sophia were Henry Philip and Josephia Sophia Brookhart. The 1870 Clark County, Illinois Census shows Sophia Brookhart 52 Ky, H.P. Brookhart 23 Ky farmer, Josephia 24 IL and Peter H. 26 Ky. In the same household were the following Parkers, Catherine J 18 IL, Samuel 16 IL, Allen 14 IL. I don't know the Parker connection. In the 1880 Clark County Census at the same house are Peter Brookhart 36 Ky, Mary 29 IL, Joseph 6 IL, Alma 4 IL, Emily 1 IL, and Amanda Sheet 15 IL Domestic Servant. This information was from a descendent of Mary Elizabeth.

The Hume line is traced to Scotland Home family, circa 1300 or 1400 - will check. My mom has quite a bit on the Brookhart clan, as well. She has promised copies of her work.
Brookhart who married Grace Sutton

Does anyone have any information on a Brookhart who married Grace Sutton (born March 9, 1888 in Ohio) during the early 1900's (probably 1905-1910). Grace Sutton was my great grandmother and it is believed that she married a Brookhart after my grandfather was born out of wedlock in 1905, and then had another son with Brookhart. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
