Classification: Query
Hi Bernice!
It is me-LaMarr-you were answering my query. Oddly enough-Anne Sheriff-who works at our Southern Weslyn Universtiy South Carolina History Room-the Clayton Room-did tell me that a LOT of the Pickens County, SC people migrated to Indiana and MO and into Oregon and Washington. She said she thought that it was the land.
We are getting closer to finding our Brooks. There now THREE of us that were working on the Mathew Brooks from Newberry, SC who left a will-as our ancestor. It seems that one of the reseachers thinks that your William Brooks was also William Henry Brooks from Abbeville Dist. SC. Right now I have SEVEN William H. Brooks in my database.
Mathew had a son-Daniel Brooks. The Daniel Brooks b. 1814 iin SC I worked on this summer I feel is one of our Brooks.
I am putting it in this post. Like all of our Brooks-no one has worked on this one either.
One of the Brooks that has worked on Mathew did say that the NC Archives has a lot of correspondence between These Brooks that took place in 1900-1940 by very old Brooks. We might be able to find something there.
