My husband's great-great grandfather was nathaniel brookshire. Nathaniel lived during the Civil War and was hanged by soldiers but was rescued by his wife. There is a book called BUSHWACKER written by George Clifton Arthur telling of this and there is a picture of Nathaniel and his wife. Nathaniel had a sonnamed Robert Lee, born 11-3-1866, died 12-19-1947. He married Martha Elizabeth Fore, born 7-21-1869, died 12-21-1943. One of their sons was named Alvin, who married Mildred Haven.
