Philgatehouse1 & Jim Broom & everyone,
My mother was a Broom of Fairfield Co. SC. It seems certain that they came from what is now Wake Co. NC in 1768. Before NC it is thought they were in Maryland in the 1600s. Mom said she was told they were Scotch Irish. This is a house of cards that I am dubious of, but there is an easy solution, but I won't bore folks with that again.
Philgatehouse1, did you notice that you replied to Jim Broom's post of 29 Nov 2006? That is 5 years ago. I hope he is still reading message posts. I get this list's post in the inbox of my email address. If he changed his email address without subscribing to the Broom list, he is lost to us. When I click on "View Posts" it only shows the one posting i.e. the post of 29 Nov 2006. Are there more? I am not expert at Message boards.
His post sounds to me like he was answering someone but maybe he started a new thread. He sounds like he is talking about a printed "chart" but the numbers sound like he is talking about a computer database. I wonder if it is here in "Family Trees" or at Ancestry.com as a public or private tree. Have you looked for it? I would like to email both of you.
I found with GoogleMaps that Muiravonside is at Loan. I find Loan is 7.1 miles by road SE of the center of Falkirk. One set of my ancestors' kin lived at Torphichen, north of Bathgate, Scotland. Torphichen is south of Loan only 3.6 miles by road i.e. about 3 miles "as the crow flies". I would like to be able to email you & Jim Broom. My contact info is:
