Hi Graham,
My grandfather Edwin/Edward Welch disapeared after my grandmother's death in 1916 until I traced his own death in 1958. He was living at 9b Delia Street, Wandsworth. The death was registered by a E. Blackwell of the same address. I wonder if this is your Emily Blackwell (nee Broom) of Wandsworth. It's a long shot but you never know.
Regards, Dave Welch

Stonewall had several brothers and sisters; Robert G., Cynthia G., Jesse, George, Charles H., and John C. Calvin and Narcissus apparently passed away before 1880. Robert was the head of household in 1880 census in Popes, Panola, Mississippi. If same "Stonewall" please let me know. Thank you. Jack W. Broome

TaraBarry83. I just read on the Ancestry.com message board a couple of responses you made on 11-19-2008 and 11-20-2008 about a Broom/Broome. I would like to email directly to you to discuss a line of Broom/Broome's that has an identical DNA match to me. There is a current email on Myfamily.com by James W. Green III, that lists connections thru Australia back to England. I would like to forward directly to you for your review and comments along with an indication if any of the names are familiar in your kinship line or research. Will you share a direct email address with me for that purpose ?? Thank you. Date of birth 27th March 1850. Residence 23 Bermondsey Square.

I have also have him in the 1871 census with his wife Mary Ann, occupation Cabman, living at 14 Spring Place, Lambeth, with a cousin named Emma Hedger, widow aged 40.

Kind regards,

Luke

Jenny M. Broom married William Patton

I just found some an interesting anomoly on one of my dead ends. I have a William Patton who was born in Virginia in about 1789 who married (I thought) Jane or Jennie McBroom in Floyd County, Kentucky in February 1812.

However, the on-line Floyd County, Kentucky records have the following two marriages listed in 1812:

PATTON, William, m. Jenny M. Brown, Feb 12, 1812
PATTON, William m: Jenny McBROOM 2-9-1812

Does anyone else have a William Patton that married a Jenny M. Broom, or a Jenny Brown, instead of a Jenny McBroom? I am not sure if this is the same marriage entered twice with different names for the wife, or truly two marriages. I haven't found any Brooms or McBroom's in the 1810 census for the area, but I did find a 3 or 4 Browns who might have had females in Jennie's age group.

For a bit more information on what I do have, William and Jenny had 3 children (that I know of):

1. James Jarvey Patton (b. February 21, 1812 and married Minerva Gerard) This is my line.
2. Andrew Jackson Patton (b. March 10, 1816 and married Mary Gerard, who was also Minerva's sister)
3. David Patton (don't know birthdate)

The whole family moved from Kentucky in about 1819 -- we think first to Ohio, and then to Indiana -- so they aren't in the 1820 Kentucky census.

Both William Patton and Jenny McBroom/M. Brown are major dead ends for me, so any insight is appreciated.

I am cross posting this on the Patton and Brown lists also.

Thank you.

Marti
Broom(e)/Armstrong Wash. Co. Ohio

Hello,
I have an 1860 US Census for Aurelius, Wash. Co., Ohio listing:
James Broom age 45, Thomas Broom age 38, Enos Broom age 32, and Felix Broom age 29. In the same household is my gggrandmother Roxey (Roxalana) Armstrong age 23 and her daughter Caroline age 3. She later married Albert Grubb.

I think that Roxey was the Broom's niece as her mother was Betsey Broom married to Lewis Armstrong. They were married 16 Feb 1832, in Wash. Co., Ohio, both from Salem.

Also listed on that census in the same household was Thomas and Elizabeth Weekly, and their 2 children Lewis and Lucinda. Elizabeth (Armstrong) Weekly was Roxey's (Roxalana's) aunt.

I am trying to verify that Betsey was a sister to the Broom's listed in this census. Does anyone have a Betsey or Rebecca Broom(e)?

I would gladly share what I have.
Sheryl Kronebusch

Lynn,

Thanks for repyling. I have loads of Beechey's from the Witney area. In fact there are so many that I am not 100% sure who is related to who!

Have Sophia Broom nee Beechey's father as Joseph Beechey born 11 August 1808 in Witney. He married Caroline Tagle on 9th June 1828 in St Mary's Church, Witney. Joseph died in 1881 in Union Workhouse.

Also have a Joseph born 1811 who was the son of William Beechey (c1783 Witney) and Sarah Miles who married in St Mary's, Witney on 23 November 1803.

My link is via the Beechey family as I believe that Jospeh Beechey who married Caroline Tagle is my GGGG Grandfather.

Happy to share what info I have.

Maria

help with broom/davies

could anyone please help as i keep hitting brick walls. I'm trying to find info on a gwendoline mary davies who married a benjamin broom from staffordshire in 1901 in pontefract west yorkshire. getting nowhere with things. can't get any further back on her side all i know is her dad was named on wedding cert as isaac davies(deceased locomotive engineer). benjamins dad was also called benjamin and he was a malster's labourer in staffordshire. gwendoline mary or mary as she was sometimes known as is my great grandma on my dads side(davies) as she had a son out of wedlock. she was on the 1891 census living with a joseph hanson (father to my grandad? we assume). any help would be much appreciated thankyou
