Hello, Sarah McDonald Broome was the sister of my great grandmother Josephine McDonald McVay. My grandmother Edna McVay Howard and grandfather Sam Howard came to Oklahoma together about 1915-16. I have done a lot of research on the family. If you are interested I will send you an invitation to my family tree on Ancestry.com. I have found out a lot about the McDonald family. Do you know where Grandma Jernigan is buried? I know that Sarah and Robert are buried at Okmulgee. Elizabeth was Sarah and Josephine's mother and came to Ok. with them. Her name was Elizabeth C. Dugger McDonald Jernigan. I believe that their father William Green McDonald was killed or died during the Civil War. Robert's mother was also married to Harris Jernigan. She married him after Robert's father's death. He was her third husband.

He died before I was born but from all accounts he wasn't a preacher of any sort. He was a railroad construction engineer who worked on a lot of the old Florida railroads like the Blountstown to Marianna, Cedar Key to Fernandina, etc. He died young and is buried near Blountstown, FL.

Can anyone who has access to the 1891 Census for Brighton do a lookup for me please? I have just found out that my Broome family who lived in Wandsworth, Surrey might be under the surname BROOMES in Brighton, Sussex on the 1891 Census. They never lived there so I am assuming they were there on holiday or visiting. Robert [B. 1835/7] and Eliza [B. 1840]and maybe their son Robert/Robin [B. 1882]

Seeking any information on Albert W Curtis married 1912 at Lambeth, London to Winifred Elizabeth Broome [daughter of Harry Abel Broome & Elizabeth Susannah Daniels]. They had a son Albert in 1913 at Wandsworth. Harry Abel Broome was the brother of my grandfather and, although I have the Census data, I am trying to make contact with any living family members.

If they are related there is a long history in the UK which I can trace to 1790 at the moment.

Ray Broome
Manchester
England.
April

I'm related to the Broomes from Denton/Hazel Grove. I can't tell you anything specifically about Rose, but my mother's great uncle moved to Denton from Buxton and her aunt lived in Hazel Grove. I believe that her grandfather was one of 13 children. My mother may well have more information for you. We still live near Buxton, though the Broome name ended on my side of the family with my mother & her sister. I think it still persusts in the area with her cousin's son.

Regards - Tigger
