Hi! My husband's grandfather was a Bros. He settled on Staten Island in the early 1900s. He was Joseph Bros, son of Michael and Mary (Gierczyk). He was Polish, born in 1897 in the area of Sandomierz/Radom which would have been Prussian at the time. It is possible therefore that your ancestors are Polish not German. I don't know anything else about Joseph Bros family of origin. So, I can't say if he had sisters or brothers

Bros is an unusual name. In some ways this is good, because it should be easier to avoid false leads. On the other hand, there are many conflicting hints as to nationality. In hunting for the origins of it on the web. There are some families with this name from Luxembourg, France as well as German Poland. Please let me know if you have any luck. You can contact me via this email (hjcs@aol.com)
