My gggrandfather George W. McDonald married Mary Brotherton April 1865 in Dyer Co., TN. Mary, born 1845 in TN, listed her parents as being from NC and Virginia respectively. This matches in every way with what I can find out about Mary, the daughter of William and his wife Martha Francis.

William G. is a younger son of Joseph of Lincoln Co., NC. and his father was living with him in 1850 in Tippah Co., MS. William appears to be the Winston Brotherton living in Lafayette Co., MS in 1860 and the W. G. Brotherton in Madison Co., TN in 1870. I cannot locate him or any other family members after 1870.

George and Mary McDonald were living in Haywood Co., TN in 1880. Mary died sometime after 1880 and 1888.

Is there anyone who has any information about this line, no matter how limited or uncertain the source? I have pretty much exhausted the available online information without a lot learned.

I would appreciate any help what so ever.
