I would interested in comparing information. I have a comprehensive ancestry book titled "Les Brouillet-Bernard de Beloeil" by J. Elzear Bernard going back to Michel Brouillet who was born at GOUET in the old Province of Poitou, France, (now Department “de la Vienne”) of the marriage of Jacques Brouillet, miller, and his wife, Renee Vaiziennes, on May 3, 1645.

I suspect a branch of this family is the one that settled in South Dakota. I have a fairly comprehensive decendancy chart beginning with Michel Brouillet who was born at GOUET in the old Province of Poitou, France, (now Department “de la Vienne”) of the marriage of Jacques Brouillet, miller, and his wife, Renee Vaiziennes, on May 3, 1645.

Michel's oldest son, Bernard, changed the surname of his children to Bernard, in order to "single them out" from the children of his brothers.

I am also doing tracing on family roots. I have found that the name Brouillet changed in 1780 to Bruette. that was my Grandmothers name

My Father owns two Brouillet dit Bernard ancestry books that was commissioned by my Grandfather in the 1932. I will take a look at your request own my next trip to Montreal in July. We have detailed information on our side of the family tree. It starts in France and ends in the 30s. We haven't updated the information yet. Steve - Thank you for responding. I have Pierre's birth on June 23, 1780 in Sorel, Quebec. He married Elisabeth St Martin and had many children. My connection is through their son Abraham born in 1811.

I am looking for information on Henri Brouillette who came from Trois Rivieres, Quebec into New York to Chazy in Clinton County. He married an Irish immigrant named Mary Hayes and they had a daughter named Catherine in 1861. By that time they were living in Albany, NY. He was a carpenter and was killed in a fall from a church steeple a few months before Catherine was born.
