Am intrigued by your Benjamin *Franklin* BROWN, as my hubby's GG-Grandparents were John & Phoebe (McCoy) BROWN, both born late 1700s in NC--Phoebe was granddau. of John & Phoebe (Parker) **FRANKLIN** of NC, through their dau. Jemima (who married Hugh/Daniel MCCOY). John & Phoebe (McCoy) BROWN met, married, and had 5 or 6 of their 7 children in TN. They then removed from TN to Edwards County, IL in 1828. By 1830, they removed to Richland County, IL, where John patented lands (then part of Clay County, until Richland County formed in 1841).
Have always wondered if other BROWNs, MCCOYs, and/or FRANKLINs pioneered to IL (and beyond) with them, as another Brown of John BROWN's kin, James BROWN, also born late 1700s in NC, removed from TN to IN, where he and several of his generations remained!?!
So does anything (seem to) tie to your BROWN line, Beth?
(BTW, hubby's Grandfather, Henry Marshall BROWNE, added the *e*, as did his two brothers, tho' we don't yet know why.)
