I am looking for a Robert Bown born in 1827, a John Brown in 1830 and a Mary Brown born 1840. These were decendants of Robert Brown born 1805 in Avondale Lanark Shire, and Janet Wiseman. I know they also had another two sons James born 1836(married a Janet Reid) and Mungo born 1838(married Mary ann Alderton), that imigrated to Newcastle Australia around 1862. I know that the Mother Janet was in Australia in 1864, but I do not know if she stayed here. If anyone has any information about these people your help will be appreciated

I am continuing the search my grandfather started 30+ years ago for the family of John Brown b. Oct. 15, 1759 in VA. & died Dec. 31, 1834 in Culpeper, VA. He married Lucy Doggett in 1781 and had 12 kids. He & Lucy were both buried in Mt. Pony Cemetery. His Rev. War record says he entered service in 1781 as a substitute for Daniel Brown. Does anyone have any info?

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

1st Lt. Thomas J. Brown, 26, of Burke, Va., died Sept. 23 in Salman Park, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his patrol came under small arms fire during dismounted operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.

Interested in learning more about the family of Cornelius Brown, died in Abbeville, Abbeville District, South Carolina 1793;

his will mentions his wife, Sarah; a daughter, Sarah; a grandson, Cornelius Brown Williams, a minor; a nephew Peter Brown, who inherited his plantation until Cornelius Brown Williams became of age; a nephew Robert Brown; Peter Brown's stepdaughters, Delilah....

Cornelius Brown first obtained land patents in South Carolina in 1750. He is believed to have been born circa 1734, and probably in Albemarle County, Virginia.

He may have been a brother of Lazarus Brown, d. South Carolina; of William Brown [d. Barnwell District, SC]; and of Bartlett Brown, d. Barnwell District, SC;

Cornelius Brown is thought to be a of Benjamin Brown and his first wife....

Joseph & Polly lived out their adult lives in Spring Twp, Crawford County PA, and had a son born 1832 named J(oseph?) Cutler Brown, also known as C J Brown, Cutler Brown, J C Brown. J Cutler Brown married Elizabeth ______. They also had a daughter named Samantha born 1830 who married Chester/Checkley P Eddy. There were two more sons, the eldest child, and the youngest child, for whom I can locate no first names. I've followed this Brown family throughout the decennial census records. I am looking for information regarding the descendents of James Brown and Isabella McLeod married in Glasgow in 1822.James was a Tailor and they had 2 sons Duncan born in 1824 and John my great great grandfather born in 1836. John came out to New Zealand in 1860 and was the tollkeeper of the Kaitoke toll gate near Wanganui when he married Elisabeth Smith in 1873 and they later settled in Hawera in the Taranaki. Elisabeth was the eldest daughter of James Smith a cooper from Grenock Renfrewshire.

Hello Browne veterans.....Im looking for any links to my paternal grandmother, a Catherine Browne, born Renfrue Scotland 9th October 1888. She married, lived and died here in my home town, so thats ok, but she had two brothers Jack and Leo whom I think were younger. Their mother was Mary Glancy born 1867 Sligo, Ireland, and their father was John Browne born c.1840 with a Strokestown, Co. Roscommon connection. His father was John Browne born c.1795 in Strokestown and he married an Anne Bushelle born c.1815. This John Brownes father was Mr. Browne (possible John too) and he married a Ms. Pakenham-Mahon born c.1775??? Thats all I have with the exception that there was an R.C. Bishop Browne in the middle generation, and from memory a member of the family who worked possibly in Buckingham Palace, as I recall my grandmother telling me about afternoon tea parties!! Any ideas anyone??!! Thanks!

I have an original 5”x7” photograph of “Jay (age 13), Maynard (age 10), Faye, Martha and Velda Brown”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in 1905, based on census data and ages shown on photo. Family was from Washington Co., Iowa.

I found the family in the 1900 and 1910 censuses of Washington (Washington Co.) Iowa. In 1900, Charles (March 1872), and first wife Mattie (Apr 1874), lived with three children: Jay O. (Aug 1892), son Fay R. (Jun 1896), and Maynard (Jun 1899). In 1910 Washington Co. census, Charles was 38, in his second marriage, to wife Bearl, age 20, and in her first marriage. Children were sons, Jay (17), Faye (14), Maynard (12), and daughters Velda (7) and Martha (2).

I believe, based on Asahel's Federal Census answers, that Samuel Brown was born in Connecticut somewhere around the turn of the 19th Century, and moved to Canada East where he and his wife had a son, Asahel Brown, born 12 Aug 1827 (or 1828) in Canada East.

I believe, based on Asahel's Federal Census answers, that Polly (maiden name unknown) was born in Vermont somewhere around the turn of the 19th Century.

I don't know if Samuel and Polly married in Canada or elsewhere.

I believe that Samuel and Polly may have been living in Lowell, Massachusetts at around 1848 to 1850, based on a marriage record for Asahel Brown, son of Samuel and Polly in 1848 there.

I would like to get birth and family information for Samuel and Polly and to learn what the other members of their family were.

I am looking for any information on Adaline Brown's family line. She married Floyd W. Sandifer, she has 2 brothers that I know of, Jeff Brown and William (Bill) Brown. William (Bill) Brown died April 1924, according to an article in the Middlesboro Daily News. The article stated that his funeral was in Arthur, Tennessee. Arthur, TN is in Claiborne County Tennessee.

I have found some information that Adaline is Eliza Adaline Brown. I am having trouble finding a connection for Eliza Adaline Brown to Jeff Brown. I did find that Eliza Adaline Brown has a brother William but the dates connected to him does not match the death date in the newspaper.

William Brown was born in 1818. He was the son of Caleb Brown Sr. and Sarah Waggnor Brown. He probably lived in the Huntingdon County, PA area.

Catherine Greenland Brown was born Dec. 7, 1815. I don't know who who parents were and I would be very interested in finding out. I am related to the Browns and the Greenlands.

I suspect that William may have been a Civil War soldier in the 4th NJ Militia and living in Neptune, New Jersey in 1890.

Info re early life of George Alanson Brown sought (he was my great great grandfather) born abt 1820 in New York State close to the northern border of Pennyslvania. He was from Almira or Elmira New York State when he left home.

He ran away from home aged 13 (under threat of punishment from his father) and sailed on the trader ship Tybee and headed for Australia. It left Salem in December 1833.

Looking for birth details and parents names and any family connected in US.

George married at 14 to Margaret Tyrer who was 15 and they had 10 children.

He died on 15 December 1910 at Mt Cole, Victoria (Australia).

June Marie Brown, my great grandmother, was born in 1915 first married to Charlie E Johnson then after their divorce remarried to man who went by the name of Buster. She died in the late 1960's early 1970's in Decatur Illinois.
She was the daughter of Ross Alexander Brown and Mary Jane Eppley of Schuyler Co. Missouri. She had siblings JR, Adelaide, Carol, and Helen that I know of. Ross and Mary Jane moved to Decatur then later on to San Diego where they died. Ross and Mary also lived in Arkansas around 1910, why I have no idea and would love to find out. Ross was one of many children of James Ross Brown and Margaret A. Young. And Mary Jane Eppley was the daughter of Jacob John Eppley and Mary White of Iowa. Arthur Brown (OH, MI, KS, MI)

Looking for some help tracking down Arthur Brown's parents. Arthur was born in Ohio about 1846 and assume near Painsville, Lake County as his he was a Private in Co. D of the 7th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He moved to Kent County, MI and married Christina Park on May 14, 1873.

They apparently moved to Kansas where at least two of four children were born. Clara and Arthur appear to have been born near or in Edna, Elm Grove, Labette County, Kansas.

Arthur and Christina appear to have moved back to Kent County, MI where possibly two other children were born; Lottie and Christina.

Arthur died July 8, 1891 is buried at Caledonia Cemetery (aka Lakeside Cemetery), Kent County, MI. Christina died February 26, 1895 and is also buried at the same cemetery. (I can only presume that the Christina listed on the cemetery records is of Christina (Park) Brown and not their daughter.)

Can provide more information on the descendants if that would be of help.

There are many Brown's and several Arthur's listed in the 1860 census records for Lake County, Ohio some seeking some help finding the correct Arthur Brown.

My grt grandmother Violet Brown married Thomas Rice in 1926 they married in london where she lived but he was from shirehampton, bristol and they moved back.He was a widower and was married to lily morgan farley(died 1922) and they had 6 children together.
* Thomas' father was James Rice and I don't know his mother's name but she was born 1855 and died 1913.
* Violet's father was Henry Brown and mother was Rosina Sarah Ann Coleman (don't have any dates or siblings?)but Henry was a "merchant seaman" and died between 1926 and 1944. Violet was born in london but registered in bristol!? I think Rosina and family lived in london?!? maybe an assumption.

There may be more 2nd generation Brown's that I have not listed below. William and Nancy Brown born 1795-1797 in Virginia seemed to be close to the family of Archibald Buchanan and his wife Mary Lucinda East.

This is such a hard surname to research, but there has got to be someone out there who knows more about the Brown/Buchanan families and the Brown/Greer families.

Arthur Henry Brown was born in England in Dec. 1856-58, he married Jessie Binns (born Aug 1875). He immigrated to Ontario Canada in 1889. Jessie folllowed in 1894. My grandfather "John George Brown married Mary Ferguson Reid of Scotland while station there during WWII. She came to Canada in approximatley 1946 making her a War Bride.

I'm trying to discover if any personal papers survive of the late Dr. H. Reynolds Brown, who was living in Maldon, Essex in the late 1920's - early 1930's. The papers will be to do with sailing barges and the Maldon Town Regatta of the mid to late 19th. century. He is mentioned in Frank Carr's "Sailing Barges", 1971. page 199. Thanks.

Looking for my Grandmother's family. My Grandmother was called Jane Brown, born 1911. Her mother (I don't know her name) died when she was a young girl and her father Joseph Brown brought her to Yorkshire and remarried. I believe she had 2 older sisters, but don't know anything else.

Looking for parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. of ANDREW BROWN.
Andrew was born about 1830. He died before 1889.

He married in Sevier Co., TN. to HARRIET HENRY on 17 Sept. 1850.
Harriet Henry was born about 1830 in TN. and died after 1890, probably in Oklahoma.

Their known children were:
1. Samuel Houston Brown b. 1853 in TN.
2. William Brown "Bill" b. ca 1862 TN.
3. Rubin Brown "Rube" b. ca 1865 TN.
4. Martha Brown b. 1854 TN.
5. Mary Brown b. ca 1849 TN.
6. Andrew Jackson b. ca. 1858 TN.

While in Sevier Co. at the genealogy library, I was told that the Browns moved quite often, and sometimes were in Sevier Co.,TN., sometimes in Cocke Co., TN. and sometimes were across the state line in North Carolina.

Brown-Henry-Loveday of TN.-TX.-&OK.

Still looking for info on the Brown, and Henry, and Loveday families of Tennessee. Parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.

They lived near the Cocke Co. and Sevier Co. line of Tennessee, and the state line between Tennessee and North Carolina. They apparently moved quite often and were sometimes in Cocke Co., Tn., sometimes in Sevier Co., Tn. and sometimes across the state line in North Carolina. Each place they lived was within a few miles.

ANDREW BROWN (b. ca 1830) married HARRIET HENRY (b. ca. 1830) in Sevier Co., Tn. 17 Sept. 1850.
They had six known children all born in TN:

1. Samuel Houston Brown- b. 1853 in TN.; married 23 Dec. 1870 in Sevier Co., Tn. to Vinie Lina Loveday (b. 1856 in TN.) moved to Texas, then Oklahoma

2. William - b. ca 1862; married Sadie
moved to Texas then Oklahoma
3. Rubin "Rube"- b. ca. 1865; married Della
moved to Texas then to Oklahoma
4. Martha "Marth" - b. 1854; married unk Kelly, and
unk Cunningham
moved to Texas then to Oklahoma
5. Mary- b. ca. 1849
no further info
6. Andrew Jackson -b. ca. 1858; married Jeannie
moved to Texas then to Oklahoma

Sometime between 1877 and 1882 the whole family moved from Tennessee to Texas. In 1879 they were in Alabama, but I don't know if they lived there a while, or were just passing through.

In 1889 they moved to central Oklahoma.

In the Oklahoma land run of 1889, Harriet filed a claim next to her son Samuel. No mention of husband Andrew. Sons William, Rube, and Andrew, and daughter Martha were in Oklahoma City in 1889.
On the 1890 Oklahoma census, Harriet was listed as a widow, and head of the household. So Andrew apparently died between 1865 and 1889.

Samuel Houston Brown (b. 1853 Tn.-died 1894, OK.) married 23 Dec. 1870 in Sevier Co., Tn. to Vinie Lina Loveday (b. 1856 Tn.- d. 1895 Ok.)
They had 8 children:
1. William S. b. 1875 in Tn.; married Sarah Callaway
2. Julia Ellen b. 1877 Tn.; married James Thomason in OK.
3. Margaret Ann Brown b. 1879 in Alabama, married
William Gore in 1894 in Ok.
4. James W. b. 1882 in Texas; m. Maudie
5. Sam H. b. 1884 in TX., m. Dollie Bell
6. Hattie Mae Harriet b. 1886 in TX.; m. Jesse Payne
7. Jessie H. b. 1889 in TX., m. Edna
8. Frank b. 1893 in OK., m. Jewel

I still can't find which Brown family Andrew Brown belonged to.
Nor can I prove which Henry family Harriet Henry belonged to. I only have a possible family--no proof.
The same goes for Vinie Lina Loveday who married Sam Houston Brown. I think she was the daughter of George Loveday and his second wife Lilly, but have no proof. I did notice on some records George's wife was listed as Lina, and their daughter as Lina, on other records they are both listed as Lilly. Is it possible that in transcribing the records, they read "Lina" as "Lilly?

this comes from some bible pages I have and would like to know more about Oliver Brown. It says Mr. Oliver Brown died in Savanah Aug 20 Aged 42
(don't know if it is a misspelling or if it is another town all together)

Like most of the other entries in the pages there is no year listed. The handwriting changes with an entry dated 1882. So I am guessing that the death occurred before that date.

Would anyone have an Oliver Brown from Maine?

I'm looking for any information on a William Preswick Brown and his parents, etc.

William was born 16 Feb 1904 possibly in the Yorkshire area, and died around 1979 in Northumberland.

I have also been told that his father may have had a shoe shop somewhere in Yorkshire under the same name.

William married a Priscilla Ann Benns in 1923, having 6 children, including Irene Brown b:1923 (my grandmother).

So far I have struggled to find any info on the Brown family. My relatives are few and far between and either can't remember much or haven't responded to my asking for help.

If anyone knows about this family or could give me a starting point I'd greatly appreciate it.

Alvy G. BROWN was born in Buchanan County, Mo, 18 Feb 1843 and died 11 May 1919, at his home in Cedar Vale, Kan., at the age of 76 years, two months and 22 days.
He was married to Martha E. Gore, 12 Oct 1865. After seven years of happy life she died, leaving four children, George L., of Wauneta; David G., of Sedan; Mrs. Lizzie Burris of Sedan, and Mary Weible of Wauneta.
Later he was married to Margaret A. BERRY, who died 19 Sep 1893. To this union were born six children: Killian C., of Sedan; Mrs. Emma LAVELY, of Cedar Vale; Mrs Eva HARDING, of Sand Springs, Okla, Ward of Longton, and Mrs. Edna Woolworth, of Kansas City.
He was again married to Mrs. Martha C. Scott 25 Oct 1900, who survives him. Besides those mentioned above he leaves three brothers, 38 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives to mourn his death. His entire family was at his bedside during his illness and death, which came peacefully, Sunday, May 11th at 3:00 p.m. He was seriously ill about four years ago, from which touble he never fully recovered.
He was a faithful member of his church from young manhood and at the time of his death was a member of the Christian church at Round Mound.
Funeral services were held from the home in Cedar Vale, Kan., on Monday 12 May 1919 at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. H. J. Hassard. Interment was made in the Round Mound cemetery. The bereaved family has the esteem and friendship of a large circle of friends in their sorrow.

Wanting info on James G. Brown born in Scotland according to 1900 census about 1825. Married Martha (last name unknown) whom was born in Tenn. Had a daughter named Mary J. whom married William King and had two children Lelia M. King and William KIng. James and Martha helped raise William when the father died in 1890. In the 1900 census William is living with the grandparents. Can not find anything out about Mary or Lelia. Hope someone has a connection.

I find a death certificate for Archie BROWN b.7-20-1892, Georgetown, TX, d.8-21-1945 in Austin, TX.The names of his parents are not on certificate. Shows his residence was 616 Main in Kerrville, TX. Is this the same as Archie C.BROWN who married Elsie Mae GRIFFIN CARNES sometime after 1924? My husband descends from the Brown line that settled Kerrville and one of his lines married into this Griffin line. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mustered in for War of 1812 in 1813 from Richmond NC. Later moved to Macon Co. Al and married Catherine Ruth Sikes in 1845 at age 55.

Willard BROWN (b. 1806/7, NH) was given guardianship of Silas on 22 Sep 1829 in St. Lawrence Co., NY, after the death of Nathan. So, is Silas Willard's nephew or his youngest brother? And who was Nathan's wife? Willard was born 1806/7 in NH and was in the 1830 census of Stockholm, St. Lawrence Co., NY, with his wife, Mary RASEY.
