You had mentioned in a much earlier post that if one was related to Robert Brownfield of Urbana, IL you had information that took the family back to England or Wales if I remember correctly.

My husband is a descendant of Robert J. Brownfield, married to Susan Ramsey. His dates are 1760-1841

Robert J Brownfield was the son of John B Jr.Brownfield, married to Prudence Gray. Johns dates are 1719-1770

John B Jr Brownfield was the son of John Brownfield who was married to Mary Lewis. John Brownfield's dates are 1697-1751. I have John Sr. boarn in Whiteland Scotland or Northern Ireland and he died in Marple Twp, Chester, PA.

John Brownfield was the son of Robert Brownfield and Joan ? but unfortunately that file has been corrupted and I can't retrieve anything of that family. What do you have about Robert Brownfield and Joan.

Are you able to email me directly at aol?
Thank you Beth Brownfield

I am the granddaughter of Oran Brownfield who was the grandson of Robert Brownfield. I would appreciate any info you can give me. I am just getting started tracing the Brownfields. I was born and raised in Urbana, Illinois, but I live in Alabama now. I don't get home often, so it is difficult to get to the archives at the Urbana library. I did a lot of genealogical research there when I was in school in the 50s and 60s, but the info has been lost. I do know the story of John Brownfield and the grist mill. Is there any way to access the Urbana library online?

Responding to message below that you have information for descendants of Robert Brownfield. Are you refering to Robert Brownfield 1760-1841? who was married to Susan Ramsey? His father was John Brownfield married to Prudence Gray. John's father was John Brownfield married to Mary Lewis. I am interested if it has been proven who the last John Brownfield's father was (I have Robert married to a Joan). I am interested in receiving information to the ancestors going back to the 1600s in Scotland/Ireland/Wales. Would prefer to receive by email vs on line at this site. I am at aol.com

This seems like an old post, not sure if the orignal sender of the original message is still available.

Hi, my name is Robert J. Brownfield as you might guess I would be interested in any information you have on the 1760 RJB. My line of the Brownfield family has been in Illinois at least since the 1820s to date. Jacob (Jack) was born in the 1820s; his son was Josiah (Joseph) his son Seymour (Sam) then my Father Robert A. They all lived near Olney Illinois. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I have been unable to connect our line with any of the other known Brownfield lines because of a fire in the court house destroyed much of the information.

Brownfield family Cincinnati Ohio-David, Hannah, John, Jasper, Isaac, Neomi

I have the Brownfield family living in Cincinnati in 1840. Then David dies in Cincinnati Aug 11, 1849. I think they had a daughter named Catherine as she is buried in the Wesleyan Cemetery as well and she died May 28, 1849.
Hannah is in the 1860 census with children John born about 1839 (he dies August 30, 1883 and is buried in Spring Grove).
Jasper who is born in Ohio 1841 and dies in Indiana in 1907
Isaac Newton who is born in 1846 in Kentucky. He probably was the Isaac in the 1880 census of Cincinnati who owned a Saloon. He is also probably the Isaac Newton who died June 3, 1902 and is buried in the Baltimore Pike Cemetery.
The same cemetery where Hannah is buried as she died August 26, 1899.
Daughter Neomi married Andy Thompson in 1871 in Butler County and I cannot find her after that.
I cannot find Hannah and her children in the 1850 census. I have found Hannah and Neomi in 1870 census in Butler County. I found Hannah by herself in the Butler County Infirmary listed as a pauper and insane.
Any help locating any info on this family would be welcome.
Thanks in Advance
Cindy

Somewhere i have information that a Brownfield (direct line from George (1588) to my grandmother) was involved with Cromwell. At some point the family moved between Ireland and Scotland and eventually came here. I choose to assume they were fleeing from the king but that's just my glee at having a rebellious ancestor. I'd love a copy of what you have.

Re: Brownfield Family of Scotland, Ulster or England

Hi,
My name is David Brownfield. I have been researching my family history and have got back, firmly, to a birth in 1820. From the mid 1800s Charles was a fairly common name in my branch of the family.
My branch were in Hull, England in the early 1800s but then moved to Kent. There is another branch of the Brownfield family in Gravesend, Kent but we have not been able to establish a link to them.
It is possible that in the late 1700s my branch were at Coventry, England as there appears to be a predecessor there described as a waterman. Certainly my branch have been associated with shipbuilding since at least 1860.
Hope this helps.
David

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that's the Robert I was looking for.I have most info on the Brownfields once they came to America but I can't seem to get back to Europe.
I assume that since you are from the KY Brownfields that you are decended from one of the 4 sons of "old" charles who left Fayette co PA for KY. I am decended from "old" charles son Robert who stayed in Fayette Co PA.

I'd love to have your line and I will share mine if you want it. You can email me privately pc_witt@lgca.org

Thanks, Sherry Brownfield-Witt

I too have heard that story about Cromwells horse. I've never looked into it though.

Hi Sherry,

I don't have time at the moment to get much into things, but I thought that I would pass on that I've been able to get to a Robert Brownfield (June 14, 1670) married to a Jean Stewart (1691). My mother's family were Brownfields from Kentucky, descendant from Jefferson Brownfield. I'd love to compare notes. I'm trying to locate lines in great Britain also. The most I have at the moment is a note about a Brownfield possibly being a horse guard in Cromwell's occupying army in Ireland

I am trying to find information on my mother's mother. I knew her as Stella Brownfield. Not sure when she married someone named Brownfield. I believe she was previously married to a man whose last name was Ballette. Stella died in Arkansas in the 1960s (I think) and is buried in Cotter, Arkansas. I have no idea what Stella's maiden name was. Any info would be appreciated.

Brownfield's of Newark and Jacksontown OH

Looking for information regarding the Brownfield families of Newark and Jacksontown, Hon. Benjamin Brownfield, Elmer Brownfield and Jacob Orlando Brownfield. Would love photos and it would be nice to be able to chat with a living relative. My family tree is Schneider Family Tree so you may see the relationship to the Brownfield Family.

Hi Sherry

I’m probably stating the obvious but to identify spelling variants and help to better “target” your query , I take it you’ve already looked at the IGI on the LDS familysearch.org web site and the OPR’s & Wills on Scotland’s People.

Jeff
