Some places it says Brownstone and some Brownstein.

Samuel Brownstone is from Romania and died in Ontario Canada on 20-Aug-1965. He was 75.

His children with wife Molly Schwartz were: John, Sadie, Abraham, Martin, Ruth, and possibly others.

Any information appreciated. Thanks.

Just a note, -- I have some Brownstones in my family tree who came from Russia, and though they were shown on most records as "Brownstone," the name appeared on one as "Brownstein." In looking for the 1904 census you might want to check for that kind of variation, in case they changed their name. (If you aren't sure of the original name.)

The information I have on the Brownstones is several brothers came from Europe. Issac Brownstone was processed through Angel Island in SF. They lived in SF for many years and there son David Brownstone attended college there.

Then they moved to Santa Cruz, CA. At some point they started a business called Issac Brownstone and Sons. It was a feed business. It started in a town in Selma, then another started in Lemoore. This information is from an historical book of Fresno and Tulare Counties. I can email some more information if you like.

My name is Alan Brownstone. I was born in London and have a brother, Gilbert. My parents were second generation immigrants. My fathers parents were born in Poland (I think) or maybe Latvia. I too would like to find out more about the 'Brownstone Clan' but cannot even finf them on the census in 1904. The family lived in London and my grandfather was a shoemaker or repairer.
