Can anyone help me with my STEPHENS and (pretty sure BROXSON), connection in Florida. Although my direct line lived in Holmes and Walton County Florida area in the early 1900's, I believe the STEPHENS line was originally (or mostly) located in or around Ponce De Leon Florida and the Marianna area. The BROXSON connection to my STEPHENS came into the picture in Holmes County (I think). This is all I know and I am resarching for my dad who would love to know who his great grandmother was. She evidently died several years after my dad's father was born in 1899. To the best of anyone's knowledge, her name was Ella STEPHENS, her father was Bill Stephens (pretty sure but not positive that his name may have been William C. Stephens). Bill Stephens was a Confederate veteran and had a scar on his hip from an injury he received during the war. I do not know who his first wife was (that's one of my main questions), but we think he married a second time to a WHITTON who had previously been married to a MELTON. He either had a brother (maybe a son) named Sam Stephens who was a (real estate?) broker around Marianna, Florida area. The following persons are either Bill Stephens children but might be his brothers and sisters (I only have family records that do not give any dates):
George Stevens
Alice Stephens
Dave Stephens
Kate Stephens
Martha Stephens
Mae Stephens
Beth Stephens
If anyone knows ANYTHING on this line, I would certainly appreciate it. I have a little more information if interested.
Thank you
Despina Lalas
(ellinas@bellsouth.net)

Stephens either had a son (or a brother) named Aubrey Stephens who was a doctor?

Hello Edna, I am from Milton Florida and I am the secretary of the Genealogical Society.
I do research on my family the Broxson's and have been very involved for several years.
I have researched this family back to the 1600's. As for the information you are looking
for I have some of it. Thomas G. Broxson Laura Ann Pittman had several children. Their
first child was Joseph R. Broxson born March 21, 1829 and married Mary Ann Stafford. Joseph
died October 5, 1886. I do not know yet when they married and where they are buried, or who
their children were. Joseph had several siblings, William H., James T., George Thomas, Elizabeth
Jane, Susannah, George Washington, Sarah Catherine, Isaac, John Wesley, Ruth Jane, Lorry Ann Rebecca,
Lorry Ann, and Robert Broxson. I have info on most of these. If I can help you any more please contact
me, as we are currently writing a book on the families of Santa Rosa County to be published by Heritage
Publishing Company. We are currently compiling family histories for this book. It will not be ready for
sale for about one year.
Sincerely
Cindy Broxson-Cobb
(850) 981-0597

George Broxson was born 9-18-1768, I do not have the name of his wife but I do know that he had three sons, Thomas, Clark and Robert.
I have quite a bit of information on him and his children. I have been working on my family line for several years and am currently working
with the Heritage Publishing Company on a book about Santa Rosa County Florida where several of the Broxson family settled. We just had a
family reunion on the 21st at Navarre Florida. I have access to several of the family lines. My research goes back as far as the 1600's when
Thomas Broxson came to America from England and landed in Maryland.

I don't know who you are but I am a Broxson. I have
spent several years researching my ancestors and family members whom are still alive today.
Yes I do plan to write a book on the family but it is for my family members who are interested in their
heritage not people like you. I do not ask for information for free. I spend hours researching cemetaries, birth and death certificates,
old church records and census records. My work is mine and mine only. I do go to living family members and ask for info if they have an
interest in the book being published. So before you post something on the internet be sure of your FACTS!!

Yes, I have all the information on the Polk family as well as the Broxson that married into that family.
My cousin went to the cemetary in South Carolina, and found that it is located on private property. She
was fortunate enough to get permission to see the graves and made photos. I will be more than glad to send
you the information but it may take me a week because my father just had a stroke and it has left him blind.
We also just had a death in our family and are waiting for my cousins body to be sent home from Germany. I
would love to help you and if you can give me a week I promise I will get back to you.

Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness. I am
not sure exactly what information you need. The
Broxson Cemetary on the McMillan Farm is located
4 miles northwest of Cross Swamp Methodist Church
in Colleton County South Carolina. It is located
on private property but the owners will give you
permission to enter and view the cemetary.
John Broxson and Anna Marie Varn had a son named
George Broxson that married Grace Polk. George was
born in 1743 and died 1798, he is buried in the
cemetary. John and Anna had a daughter, Sarah b.1750 d.1806,
that was married to Luke Polk. I have much more info but like
I said I am not sure what you are looking for. There are several
Polks buried in this cemetary. Please contact me and if you have
a fax line available I can get this information to you. If not we
can figure out some other way because the information is very long.
Again thanks for the prayers.
Cindy Broxson-Cobb
