Seeking information on Elizabeth Brubaker who m. Jacob Barr. Here is what I have on Elizabeth. Some of it is undoubtedly not correct, but at the moment I can't tell what:

Some sources say she died 1861, but I think that is because they think she was the wife preceding one who married Jacob Barr in 1861.

My research seems to list Anna Brubacher (b. 1669) as a child of both Hans-Heinrich Brubacher and his brother, Hans-Jacob Brubacher. Does anyone have "sourced" info to correct the mistaken data?

If you can trace your family back to Hans Brubacher/Brubaker, he came to America in 1710 and died in 1748. He received his land grant from William Penn in 1717.
Then we are looking for you. The Brubakers of America
hold a Brubaker Family reunion in Rohrerstown, Pa (Hans Brubaker's land of 1717) on the first Sunday in August every year. Family news and genealogy is exchanged. In August of 2017 plans are in the works for a Reunion of the 300 years of the Brubaker family. Plan to attend, mark your calendars for the first Sunday in August and come to Lancaster County, Pa. John Brubaker (married to Anna Meyers) was my g g g g grandfather. In 1710-1720 a Hans Brubaker came to America along with two brothers John and Jacob Brubaker that may have been cousins. Because Hans means John and German, there is some confusion (as I understand) as to who may have been our John Brubaker's father. If you find out for sure, I too would be interested to know.

If this is the same Minnie Brubaker that I know of: She was Minnie Landis,maiden name, my grandmother's sister (Rosie Landis Brubaker). Minnie married a Hartman and after his death and my grandmother's death, my grandfather W.R. Brubaker married Minnie Landis Hartman Brubaker. She lived only a couple of years after that. She was my grandfather's third wife; his two previous wives had died. I have more information if we are talking the same Minnie Brubaker. I do believe she lived around Reedly at one point and the W.R. Brubaker family and (George Washington Landis families are all Church of the Brethren. Both W.R Brubaker and George Washington Landis (Miinie's father) were ministers.

Two of my great-uncles died during WWII (Richard & Russell). One was in Germany & the other in the PTO however I can never remember which one was which. Also I'm fairly certain that they didn't marry or father any children before their deaths. Unfortunately, their 3 siblings are all deceased now and my dad was only a toddler when all of this happened, so my info is limited to my own childhood memories of stories about Richard & Russell.

If it's any help, I believe the family was raised in Vinton, IA by Daisy Brubaker. You might want to check Vinton's website (http://vintoniowa.net/) to see if additional resources are available.

Jacob and Rachel are in my family line. My grandmother, Leota Cora Huemme Koontz did a geneology book on the Koontz family which she published in 1963. She states in her notes on Jacob and Rachel that she was unable to locate the graves of either one. Most of their children were buried in Shade Twp. most of them in the old Wilt cemetery and some in the I.O.O.F. Cemetary in Stoystown, PA. Hope this helps.

Levi Brubaker died in infancy 1819, possibly son of Daniel?

At the fleamarket today in Webster, Florida I saw for sale a tombstone of a baby named Levi Brubaker, born January 1819, died March 1819, lived 8 weeks. Son of ___ and ____, I could not make out the names. The father's name could have been Daniel but it was hard to read so I am not sure.
The dealer was tied up with other customers and I was in a hurry so I did not get the opportunity to ask him where he got the gravestone or what the rest of the inscription read.
This was very disturbing to me, that someone would sell a tombstone at a flea market.
Maybe the little bit of information I have provided here will help someone. I'm sorry I have no more information.
The Webster flea market had a lot of antiques dealers from "up north" today. Many dealers who were at Rennigers in Mt Dora, Florida over the weekend were in attendance, so the dealer was most likely from somewhere other than Webster and may possibly be selling at Renningers again in February.

I have noticed that there was a sudden discovery that John Brubaker's father being named 'Jacob'. I would like to know what are the sources to prove that his father's name was 'Jacob'? I know that John had a son named 'Jacob', which is the line that I descend from, but where is the source that John's father's name was Jacob as well?

Pearl Brubaker was my step-grandmother. She died in October, 2000. She was married to my maternal grandfather, Jacob Habecker, who died in 1988. We lived out of state and visited only once or twice a year, but I recall Pearl speaking fondly of her sister Marie's children/grandchildren. I don't believe I ever met them and I can't remember their names but my mother might know. I believe Blanche is also deceased.

I have not heard of anyone organizing the Michael Brubaker reunion this year. It is traditionally held on July 4, but for the last couple of years there has been a gathering on a different date.

I found this website while searching the internet for information, and I am hoping that one of you may be able to assist me. I am researching my great uncle, Eugene James Carter, who died on Guam during World War II while in the Marines. My great grandmother received a letter from a Wilbert Eugene Pruitt in 1948 that talked about the night Gene died. According to Pruitt, three of his best friends died while fighting alongside him in a fox hole on Guam on July 21st 1944. He refers to them as my great uncle, Russell Brubaker, and Robert Kyzar from Mississippi.

From what I can find, Russell Brubaker was from Iowa. I was just wondering if any of you could put me in contact with any relatives of Brubaker's. I would like to learn more about him as well as share information that I have about the night he died.

I realize that this is a stretch, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Emma Ressler Brubaker, b.1863, wife of Arthur Brubaker, of Lancaster Co., PA

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Emma Ressler and Goldie Ressler Brubaker”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Lancaster (Lancaster Co.) PA. Photo is consistent with those taken about 1885-1890. One is a baby about age 2, and one an adult, mid 20s. Initially it was unclear to me if the baby was Emma or Goldie.

I found an Emma Ressler, born abt 1863 (matching abt age 25 in abt 1888) – in the 1880 census of Shell Rock (Butler Co.) Iowa, as age 17, daughter of Amos and Albertina Ressler, both born in PA. I searched then for a Goldie Ressler, and found her as Goldie V. Ressler, age 13, in the 1900 census of Martic (Lancaster Co.) PA – with date of birth Jul 1886 in PA. In the 1910 Lancaster Co. census, a Goldie Brubaker was age 23, wife of Arthur Brubaker, age 23.

Born June 22, 1915, in New Carlisle to I.J. and Ella Studebaker Filbrun, she was a bookkeeper for Quality Grain Inc. for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Crosier; son, Reid Brubaker.

Her husband, Ward, died Feb. 2, 2005.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Upper Twin Old German Baptist Church, West Alexandria, with visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Dayton.

She was born May 29, 1912, in Madison County, Ky., to John and Frances Johnson Turpin.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Louise Wade.

Her husband, Merrill, died in 1994.

Memorial service will be held at a later date. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis, is in charge of arrangements.

Jacob Brubaker and wife Rachel Cable graves

Looking for the location of Jacob Brubaker(b. 3 MAR 1783 d. 14 MAY 1856) and wife Racheal Cable (b. 19 FEB 1784 d. 18 JUL 1838) graves. Jacob was the son of John and Anna (Musser) Brubaker who came to Somerset County, Pa in 1784. He moved his family to the family homestead in Shade township, Somerset Co., Pa in 1828. Were he and his wife buried in the old Ridge cemetery or were they buried on the family farm? The old Brubaker homestead gravesite was plowed over years ago.

I don't think there has been any discovery of John's father's name - I believe Karen mentioned that name with a question mark. I have seen much speculation that his father's name was Jacob, but I am not aware of any definitive evidence confirming that. It was my understanding from the last post that such information was actually begin sought, as there is a "roadblock" at that point.

I have since learned that she died while visiting Illinois, and I have been to her grave here in Roanoke, where I live. I am still wondering about those letters, but haven't heard definitively from anyone on that. I am curious if you are the same Karen who has added all of the tombstones to findagrave? Thanks very much - I do remember seeing that now. Dwayne Wrightsman has written a number of great articles about the Brubakers (as well as a number of postings to this message board). Another possibility for this info is the site "Mennosearch.com" - the owner of that site has done a great deal of research in Europe which includes information about the Brubakers. I have not seen his research (membership fee required), however I believe it has been referenced by postings on this board.

Iam looking for any relatives of these three sisters who lived on Bank St., Landisville with their elderly parents in the 1960s and'70s. Actually, that would not include Marie, who was married and had a son named Wayne. I do not know her married name.

I lived next door to them as a child. Pearl was a school teacher who married very late in life-someone named "Hamacher" or "Habecker"?? Jacob was his first name.

Blance worked in the factory of Hamilton Watch Co.

Whenever Wayne and family came to visit I had playmates. I would like to know what became of this family. Thank you.

If you search the Brethren message list archives, on 11 Jan 2002, Dwayne Wrightsman posted a message regarding Jacob being the father of John Brubaker.
I don't know what his source of info was, you would need to ask him.
I know that Dwayne is a Brubaker descendent, but believe he has a different email now from what appears in that message.
The subject line of the message is:

Noah was born 2 Apr 1849 in Ohio and died 30 Apr 1934 in California. His parents were Otis & Eliza C. (Emeric) Brubaker. Noah and Magdalena were the parents of 16 children. I've recently come across some photos of the Brubaker family, but am unable to identify some of the people. The ones who are unknown are marked with an "unk." My ancestor was Eli's brother, Noah. I do not know Abraham's parents but he was born July 1795 in Rockingham Co., VA, married in Fairfiekld Co,., OH, and died 1854 in Marion Co., IL. Elizabeth's father was Jacob and I believe both were born in PA. She is listed as "Betsy" on her marriage record and in her Dad's will . Abraham was listed as "son-in-law" on record of estate sale of Jacob Myers. Children of Eliz. and Ab. Brubaker were Eli, Lydia, Noah, Jacob, Susan and Amy. I have info on descendants of most of the children. Annual Brubaker Reunion at Salem, IL, each July. Who were your grandfather and Dad?

Did you ever find out any information on John Brubaker's ancestors beyond his father Jacob Brubaker? I'm talking about the famous couple of John Brubaker who married Anna Meyers around 1 May 1774 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
I've hit a brick wall here as what concerns John's ancestors.

No I am not the kind Karen who has donated tombstones. I am a Karen Brubaker, born in Hemet, California and now living in Italy - just a few hours away from Wadenswil, Zurich, Switzerland! I would love to go there and research but I think I would also have to go to Germany to research Brubakers.
I have started to donate some tombstone pictures that my cousin did but they are so few. I've got a great family tree on my Brubaker side but it hits a wall with John (b. 1750; married to Anna Meyers) and his father Jacob? (b. 1725?) Good Luck and keep trying!

Salome Eller Brubaker died in 1882 while visiting in Virden-Girard, Illinois. But she is buried in the old Brubaker Cemetery in Peters Creek area, in Roanoke, Virginia. She lived in Salem, Roanoke, Virginia according the the 1880 US Census. Unfortunately I haven't saved my source.

A. J. Brubaker went to Michigan from Freeport, Illinois. He is the son of Rudolph K. Brubaker. I would be interested in the pictures. Are you related to this family?
