George is my husbands 4th Great grandfather. I think we are talking about the same family. He had a son James who married Agnes Henderson. Agnes and several of her children emigrated to Australia then New Zealand where their son Robert married Hikirangi Whautere.

I am looking to find information on the disappearance/murder of Mabel in the Balcarres/Garnock area of Saskatchewan in 1909. I have some details regarding this incident, but was wondering if anybody out there might know more. I have 2 newspapers articles from 1909, but I can't find out anything else.

Mabel is my 2X great aunt and her death is a tragic one. If anybody in the Bruce family has heard anything about this even if was a family "rumor" please reply.

Royal Bruce line - Flemish??

Below are listed three books by Beryl Platts which are out of print, but can be had by inter-library loan. It is her theory by way of Heraldry that the Royal Bruce line is of Flemish origins.
Read and draw your own conclusions regarding her work. Please do not write me to ask questions in regards to this subject.

These books are very well researched and well worth the reading.

i am african american,but a bruce descendant Blanche Kelso bruce was my Great Uncle, his father was pettis perkinson.i have a sister who was in her early 20's was diagnosed with cushings,went through all the symptoms mentioned,and had sugery,had tumor from her pituitary gland and her adrenal gland also,she is on streoids and has parkinsons now but she is still teaching at Howard university. My name is Jo Bruce Cunningham and I am a descendant of Lemuel Bruce b. abt 1796 in SC. I am answering your inquiry abt Spartan Bruce. Spartan was one of Lemuel's siblings b. abt 1810 in SC. Other siblings were James, Franklin, and possibly Jeremiah. The family moved to Dickson Co., TN sometime in the early 1800's. Fellow Bruce researchers have been trying to determine the parents of these brothers, but so far no luck. We do know their mother's name was Sara or Sarah b. abt 1770 in SC. Some researchers think their father's name may have been John and others think it may have been Anderson Bruce.(?) I hope this helps some. Spartan Bruce

Hello all! I am completely new to this genealogy thing but going off of what my family already has researched I am a direct descendant of Spartan Bruce through Caleb/Kaleb Bruce.

Does anyone have any information on Spartan Bruce?

I am really skeptical of any chart that goes to biblical times. You need cross referencing, ancestor by ancestor which I do not think is possible if it is the same lineage that I saw. Anything with a King Arthur or King Cole in it, forget it. These have to be 'proven' people. Robert the Bruce's Father, Robert de Bruce b. 1243, is my 21stGF. The line is all men except for me and four women. I then go back to Malcom & Duncan (I love Shakespearean references!), of course - and its almost an all masculine line except for a total of 6 women, including myself.

Interestingly, this is traced through my Norwegian family, a branch of which went to Norway from the Orkneys - the Dishington family (Thode at the time that some left for Norway). William Dishington b. 1288 married Elisabeth, Robert the Bruce's sister.

Anyway - I would love to have a copy of your chart going back to ancient Rome. I have it through ancient Troy - then back to biblical times....the house of Judah. I'm curious to see if what you have is the same.

I have an old photo of three young adults who look like they were in
show business. On the back of the photo it says
"From 3 Buzy Bs Bhebe Bruce & Betty ". Next to Bhebe's name it says
Barbara. In front of Bruce's name it says Sam. After Betty's name, it says
Bruce. If anyone can tell me who "Sam Bruce", "Betty Bruce", and Bhebe
or Barbara were it would be much appreciated.

Below their names it also says Mac Baker Berryman or
Mae Baker Berryman.

Joseph A Bruce - b. 1816 in Tn. looking for death record

I'm looking for some help because I have hit a wall. I'm trying to find out what happened to a Joseph Bruce born 1816 in Maury Co. Tennessee. 1850 Census is the last record of his existance. His wife (Dizay Ellet Bruce) and oldest son Joseph Bruce II (my great grandfather) came to Texas in the 1870's without him.

Diza's maiden name is Ellet. Actually her names showed up on the her marriage license as Dizay. I Have an Uncle named Joel Thomas Bruce but he was born about 1937 in Waxahachie, TX.

I see, we are from the James Bruce line (Group C) which is a different line. Although Jasper does have some resemblance to our line too. It is interesting that James' eldest son Thomas came to South Texas (Washington County near Houston) by the 1870's. There was an article in one book written by his ggrandson's that indicate he was here with a Jasper Bruce. They indicate that Jasper was his brother but I believe they are wrong and that Jasper was a cousin. I think I only found Jasper once in the census in South Texas. Perhaps after that he was listed as Henry. Anyway by the 1890's my gggrandfather, Thomas' brother, had moved to north Texas to Fannin County. So I thought perhaps they might be related. But there were several Bruce lines in that part of the country so........

I've been unable to reach Kalemar, but i'm so green I may not be doing it right.

My grandfather was William Bruce (1842-1925),wholesale provision merchant, mayor of Sunderland 1897-98. My mother was his daughter Ethel.

His wife was Elizabeth Brantingham (1846-1929), buried in S'land Cemetery (per the Echo).

Her brother George (b 1835) married William Bruce's sister, Sarah (1837-1910)

I have some pictures available, plus Mr Bruce's reminiscences on his 79th birthday.

I also have data on descendants, including myself.

I can provide info on William Bruce (1842-1925) mayor of Sunderland (1897/98), and his wife, Elizabeth Brantingham. Not much detail about his ancestors, so far, but a lot about his descendants.

My Bruce line is descended from Thomas Bruce who came to Middlesex, MA, in the 1650s. The family lived in MA, CT, and NY. I'm not familiar with the S.C. Bruce family.

We're there : ) The oldest listed relative was William S. Bruce... the line goes back to Jacques Brousse.

The photo shown in the posting for Henry Jasper Bruce looks a lot like my grandfather... and I'm thinking that Henry Jasper might be of my friend Henry's line... Henry passed away last year...

from a large family.

She married Henry O. Nichols 1900 recorded in VR at Hague, NY.
Would like to know the circumstances concerning this
marriage. The marriage lasted only three or four years.
Henry married Hannah ? by 1904.

Now I remember My grandfather talking about Edna never found how he knew her and if she is relative or not yet. I have it on my pedigree. also if you want to know , One ofthe Crocket of Davy Crockett. married a Bruce .I am related to the Steeles who have marrried into the Crockett line .
I have some of these people on Ancestry and am adding more . this all may seem impossible to you but , you don'tknow until you are told. put Robert the Bruce into the google search ,find out about him . my lines a not a secret. Put the name Thomas Knowlton Gibson in the google search , he is related to Mel Gibson and so am I , you will see much of my lines on the sites . but he doesn't claim Robert the Bruce .

All i seem to come across is Bruces tracing the "royal" line.Now my family have the BRUCE surname I would like to get further back.

Do you have anyone in the DNA database from the James Madison Bruce b 1819 in Pendleton District, SC, married in Lumpkin County, GA in 1839 to Jane Jenkins b 1815 in SC or TN. Some online genealogies cite a George Bruce born 1777 in SC as james Madison Bruce's father, but have no sources. And a James Bruce Sr, b abt 1741 in VA or Scotland as George's father. My great-grandmother was called Edna Bruce. Her real first name was "Etna" which she changed to Edna. She was born 1855 in PA, died 1920 in NJ, married first Eber Clinton Hess, 2nd Robert Berry. Tell me about your Edna Bruce, maybe they are related, Edna isn't a very commmon name.

I am Kalemar and you have found me but I don't travel under that name any more since I changed my email address.

I was immediately interested in your post both by the name Bruce and also Brantingham, the latter forming a major branch in my tree and also being my maternal grandmother's maiden name. However, the William Bruce that you mentioned is not the one that I seek but I confirm William (1846-1929) is in my tree as the wife of Elizabeth Brantingham.

Elizabeth's brother George Brantingham and Sarah Bruce are my Great Grandparents and, in view of the rather parochial lives these families seemed to live at the time in the Sunderland area, I am tempted to wonder if William Bruce (1842-1925), who I have not yet researched, is a descendant of my William Bruce who I guess would have been born ca 1780 and who married Ann Williamson in Gateshead, Co. Durham on 24 February 1805. William and Ann are my GGG Grandparents but, to date, I have been unable to find anything regarding William's birth.

A great deal of the Brantingham data I have came to me via other researchers, particularly one in the States, where a large chunk of the family are now to be found following a split several generations ago.
