It's been quite some time since we last communicated! I must say, that work keeps me really busy these days, and I am quite out of the look with genealogy...

That said, I can't wait to see if we are related :-) Hmm... in fact we most likely are: the village was a very small one. Have you ever been? I have, in 1989, as I still have a few known relatives living there. It was a quiet, and beautiful little place...

Have I ever sent you my line? And I am curious to find out if you also connect with the Rau line?

I have the Mezöberény Familienbuch and I can help you with info on your family. I am related to Brüchers from Mezo. As for info pre Mezo, I can't help. Some did go on to Semlak (German) / Szemlak (Hungarian) / Semlac (Romanian). If I can help, please respond. Hoping your e-mail is still the same.

Hi!

It is a long shot since there seem to be very few looking for Brücher in Hungary...

I am specifically trying to gather info from the Brücher who lived in Mezobereny (or Berin in German). The people I am looking for were of Lutheran faith.

I am trying to trace my ancestry back from there. Family folklore says the family originated from Germany... but where??

Any info, dates, data is appreciated!

I would like to hear from any descendants or researchers who can provide information besides census and SSDI on the following brothers. They were sons of George Christian Brucher and Louisa Houck.

1. John Frederick "Fritz" BRUCHER was born March 15, 1867 in Rolla, MO and died January 29, 1929 in Los Angeles. He was married to Annie Gorman BRUCHER, who died September 15, 1970 in Downey, Los Angeles Co.

2. Edward Peter BRUCHER was born February 6, 1875 in Rolla, MO and died May 30, 1967 in Esparta, Yolo Co, CA. He was married to Elizabeth or Marcy Mitchell, who died February 19, 1947 also in Esparta, Yolo Co.

..I have always wondered about the Bruchers in the city..never found anything out though..some years backI sent out letters to all Brucher..had a few replies..I do have a Brucher web page..but..right now it is down..hope it is fixed this week..my mom is a Brucher..

That is correct: it is "Brücher" or "Bruecher", the problem is mostly, that the angloamerican area pronounce it "Brutscher" or things like that.

Indeed a very old name, i guess - my cousin has some material - from a bout 1756 or something like that

In the Marge Ward reply...Could the Robert Brucher referred to possibly have been career NAVY, not ARMY? I served with Robert C Brucher in Japan in 1961-62 and have been trying to locate him. If alive, he would be about 75 to 80 yrs. old. PLEASE REPLY

Have been trying to locate former US Navy buddy named Robert C. Brucher, CSMC, stationed with me in Japan circa 1961. Is it at all possible that the son, Robert, you refer to was career Navy, not Army? The Robert I knew would be in his late 80s, most likely, if still alive. Have had no luck locating him.
