Hello, I would like to know if you have any information on the Henry Newton Bruffett portion of the family. My grandmother was Minnie Marrie Bruffett (daughter of Newt), she is referred to as "Ruth" in some historical documents and photos for reasons unknown to her immediate family. I am trying to find information on her brother Hershel who passed away as a small child from plant poising & am unable to find much of anything. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

My grandmother Minnie Marie Bruffett Warren was Raymond's sister. My husband's grandfather used to weave baskets with him & I actually have a basket weave lamp that Raymond made.I spent a lot of time with Raymond and Helen when I was very young. I always remember Raymond's car was overflowing with baskets! I do not know a lot about the Bruffett side of the family. In reading posts from you I have learned Raymonds first name was Johnny & that My great-grandparents were divorced. However, I did see in one posting where you had listed Martha & Newton's children, but did not list the brother who died at a young age, Albert Bruffett. I have tried all e-mail addresses I can find for you, so I am hoping that you will stumble upon this message and will contact me.

I found death certificates on Griffin Otis Bruffett and Elvira Caroline (Holland) Bruffett in Missouri death records. Reeds Springs, MO. Eisenhauer Cemetery. His(Griffin) mother is Patricia or Natitia(first name is sort of illegible)Zinn and his father is Mort Bruffett. Griffin died 4/17/1923 . His DOB is 1/9/1850. Elvira died 3/10/1918. Her DOB is 1/9/1858. Griffin remarried . His wife when he died was Susie Bruffett. I noticed Vada White signed both certificates as an informant and she is my grandfather Robert Edgar Bruffett's sister Nevada Bruffett.

We are looking for Griffin who was born about 1824 in Ohio, then lived in Piatt county Illinois. We know his children moved to Missouri, but not sure if he also moved there or stayed in Illinois. We know he married twice, the first time to Susannah Freeman in 1841 in Madison county Ohio, children were Jacob, Ellen, Daniel, and Elam. Griffin's second marriage was to Julia Bowman, not sure of a marriage date, children were Milton, Rueban, and Grace. The only date I know for the children is Milton's year of birth which is 1858.

Dorothy,
It's so nice to find a cousin from this line! I found some info on the Bruffett family since my post.I am working with another cousin to try to find if Griffin's father was Daniel Bruffett. This Daniel's parents were William Bruffett and his mother's maiden name was Insley but I can't remember her first name at the moment.I'll have to go back over my Bruffett files. If indeed we find that this Daniel is Griffin's father, that would explain how we are related to the Bruffetts from Jasper county.particularly the area of Catherage.Daniel had a brother named William and William and his family settled in the Carthage Mo area.My mother told me that when she was young she remembers going with my grandfather to Carthage to visit a cousin, but she couldn't remember what their names were.I have several Bruffetts in files but don't know quite how they are related yet.Do you know anything about about a Charlie Bruffett that was a medicine man? Some say he was a great unlce somehow. My mother said my grandfather told her that there was some Indian from his side of the family but didn't ever talk about it any other time.I haven't found anything on the Holland family.that is solid.Found a Holland couple in Arkansas a few months ago that I thought would be the right age for Elivra's parents but haven't went any further with that yet.

Sorry this was long.
Your Cousin,
Sharlotte

Bruffett Family

I am looking to collect information about the Johnny "Raymond"Bruffett family around Reed's Spring/Branson mo. area. He was my grandfather on my mother's side.He was a local basket maker and musician. He used to play fiddle for the Missouri Ramblers before the group went on to become the "Baldnobbers". He also used to play with "Speedy" Haworth. My greatgrandfather was Newton Bruffett, who we have a picture of playing the fiddle also, but I'm not sure where, when, and for whom he played. My grandfather also used to go to Springfiled and play for the radio staion KGBX,he palyed fiddle for the opening of Silver Dollar City in Branson and for "Plum Nellie Days". He was married to Helen Marie Wilson, and they had five children, four girls and a boy.If anyone has any information on him and the rest of the family or had someone in your family also at some of these events, please let me know.We would really appreciate any information you could give us. My e-mail address is lilroseb@home.com Thanks.
