Hi Barb, the son of Caroline who was brought as her brother was Frederick Walter George who was my granddad. Im not sure whether William went to Canada all i know is that he joined the army in 1914 in which he was underage as he was born 19th august 1897 and Caroline wrote to army to have him discharged as she 5 other children Edward 11, Elizabeth 9, George 7, Frederick 4 (not my Grandad), and Alice nearly 2, so it must be the same William so its possible that he could have gone to Canada so if you can give me any more info on him i would be grateful and if you could find some photos i would be very interested to see them. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Graham & Samantha

ps, tried to send via your email but would not work so you can contact me on furzeley.one@ntlworld.com

Graham & Samantha:

I am not in the direct line from Henry and Caroline, but rather from Henry's sister, Caroline Brum (m George Pollard 25 Dec 1899) - they are my gg grandparents, emigrated to Canada in 1903. I have few photos of the Brums, but I'm sure there is one of Caroline (Brum) Pollard, and her sister, Mary Ann (who married John Pollard, bro to George Pollard) that I could dig out if you are interested.

I'm glad you know Henry and Caroline were cousins; what was the name of the child she had who was brought up as her brother? I know of two of their children - Henry (b abt 1896) and William Isaac (b abt 1897). I think - only THINK, mind - that William Isaac came to Canada also. Is that correct? If so, I may have a lead on him I can track down for you. Of course, there were so many William and Isaacs running through the Brums, I may not have the right one! Please let me know. You may contact me off-list if you like, at spunkin24@sympatico.ca. I would love to know more about your Brums and Georges!

barb

Hi thanks for reply, im actually looking for any living relatives from Henry Brum and Caroline George who married approx 1895 when Caroline dad James George died. Caroline was my grandad mother and almost certain that Henry is my grandfather dad. Trying to find as much info as possible. I have alot of info on the George's and know that Henry and Caroline were cousins. Caroine had my Grandad when she was 14/15 and he was brought up as her brother. Any info would be gratefully appreciated.

Regards
Graham and Samantha

Don't worry, I am just as bad. Work tends to get in the way and so I haven't really done anything on the family tree for nearly a year.

I'd love a copy of the picture, can you send it to ian.benfell@virgin.net.

Also, I have had a little dig for Rose as I have no details for her, but as my mother's maiden name is Burgess there must be a connection somewhere. However, while digging I came across something very interesting!!!

A Rose Burgess living in a house in the 1881 census with Grandparents named 'Garrad'. Now I'd say that it is too much of a conincidence with the connection to Martin. So there must be a link there somewhere, but I think it will take some more effort to crack.

Ian
Martin: Great to meet you, cousin! Before we start anything, you must tell me Lydia's maiden name (m Thomas [1821]), if you have it, and the date of their marriage! It has been driving me crazy for several years! Isaac (1784) is my 4g grandfather, and I am descended from his son William (1814), his son Isaac (1846), his daughter Caroline (1879), who married George Pollard. and their daughter Lily (1901). I have much on the Brums, and will happily share. Let me know if you can take a gedcom or would prefer a Word doc; regardless, I'll give you what I've got. Can you tell me the parentage of Patience, and about her family at all?
Long time since I've connected with you, Ian. I am a terrible cousin, surely. I know you'll forgive me, though. Look, I found a picture of Caroline (nee Brum) Pollard in Toronto, Ontario, with a Rose Burgess - I assume Rose is either a spinster Burgess or married into the line. Do you know who she is, and would you like a copy of the pix? I figure her birthdate at 1880c, but that is a very loose guess from the image, with me estimating her age as roughly that of Caroline's. Let me know. (PS: My late mother referred to her as "Aunt Rose Burgess", hence all of my assumptions.)

Dias - Brum(?) Azores

I have hit a big block wall. There are so many Dias's which all have the same first names it makes my researching pretty difficult. I have learned through my grandmother and her sister that first names are very common through most all families from the Azores (Francisco, Antonio, Maria, Joe, and Manuel for exapmle). At least for me this seems to be true. So, here I go, maybe someone out there can help me fill in the blanks. My grandmother and her sister are pretty up in the ages so they don't remember as much as they used to. Any help, knowledge or anything is very much appreciated.

Manuel J. Dias (b.? Azores d.?) married Mary (Maria) Brum(?) (b.? Azores d.?)

Manuel and Mary had the following children:

Mary Ceo (Maria do Ceu) Dias (b. 1894 Madalena, Pico, Azoes - d. 1983 Califonia)
Antonio Dias
Joe Dias
Francisco Dias
Manuel Dias
Adelena Dias
Victoria Dias

Everybody after Mary Dias I know (she was my great grandmother) but anyone before her I don't know and neither does my grandmother or her sister.

They did tell me that Frank (Francisco) Silva sent for Mary after he settled in California and that she came from the Azores to New Bedford. I also know that Victoria stayed in the Azores.

Thank you for reading.

Her father was William (b. 1841), William (b. abt 1815), Isaac (b. abt 1784) & Daniel (b. abt 1756).

All were born in West London, so as far as I have got to the line is English.
Great to hear from you! Just to see if we are on the right track, did your Eliza Elizabeth Brum (b.1867) marry George Burgess? My info may be in error, so don't panic if that isn't right!

I have quite a bit of documentation on the Brums, and would happily share it.

Let me know!

I believe that William Brum & Elizabeth Randall could be my gr gr gr grandparents. I recently started researching Brums, as my gr grandmother was Eliza Elizabeth Brum b. 1867, her father was William b.1841 and his father was William b.1813.

There were several Brum families living in the same and neighbouring streets in the Acton area and I'd guess they are connected.

I haven't proven whole connection back to William & Elizabeth yet, but I'm getting there.

I'd be keen to learn what you have and find out if this is the same family.

I loose track of Adolph and Amelia after they are in the states for 16 years before I find them again in Nebraska.
I know my line went from Nebraska to Washington to Oregon. I hope this helps..
WandaLena
