I believe that Mary Brumfield, born ca 1856, in KY was the daughter of Wm and Mary. She married Caleb Duncan June 28th 1872, in Carter Co KY. In the 1880 Lawrence county OH census she was enumerated (as sister)in the hh of Joseph Brumfield. Also listed in the hh are Catherine Brumfield-sister,Ella Brumfield-sister, Charles Brumfield-nephew,George Brumfield-brother, and Effie Duncan-niece. I would like to know more about Effie, who I believe to be the daughter of Caleb and Mary.

Hello there. The Brumfields that you list here are my great grandparents. I have the family tree, and even photos of some of the people who are your ancestors. My grandmother is Sophia Brumfield. I even have a history of James and Luthena in a book form with some photos. When I was younger, I met many of the people listed in your ancestry. It may interest you to know that James William Brumfield served in the Confederate Army and was a slave owner until the end of the Civil War. He moved his family to Bozeman to homestead, because without slaves he could no longer work the farm in Missouri.

Sophia Brumfield married Andrew Lewis Guthrie. My father is Vinton Lewis Guthrie and I am Vinton Rae Guthrie but everyone calls me "Butch". If you would like to contact me, just email to vguthrie46@msn.com. I will be happy to tell you what I know about the Brumfield family. They escaped. It is said my G GrandMother was kidnapped and or sold to a family in what is called Ohio. She was not allowed to speak her language or of her family but she DID when she married and had Daughters and grandDaughters. The attempt to cover up the information that she was Cherokee and Daughter of Chief who kept the Feathers and the Pipe led to the discovery that a forged record stating she was born in OH now exists on file but it is FALSE!

I found that if you go to www.books.google.com and put in James William Brumfield it will take you to a book titled "History of Montana. 1739-1885: A history of its discovery and settlement ..." On page 1109 is a short biography of James William Brumfield which lists the following children: Martha J., John A., William S., Solomon, Samuel M., Carrie, Chales H., Rena L., Cora O., and Sophia J. He was still living when the article was written and I've been told there were 16 children total. I have a photograph of Tate Brumfield and my great aunt wrote My mom's (Cora Olive) brother Tate Brumfield on it. So I'm very certain he existed.

Good luck!

Ridley died young and Susannah remarried a couple of times. I have looked everywhere for proof. My next stop is the DAR library in Washington.

I should have added the name was often mixed up with Broomfield. The grandfather was born in TX, the great in "Fl?" or LA. I think because of LA being called a part of West FL that the mixup in birth sites relates to that.

Brumfields of West Virginia

Hello, I am trying to find information on my great great grandpa William Brumfield, possibly from Cabell county WV area. He would have been there around 1850 or earlier. I know he was married to Mary A. but I don't have her maiden name. They had a son named Jeff B. Brumfield(went by J.B) (marriage license from 1912 lists him as being 50 and his parents William and Mary as being from Cabell Co. Wv) he is my great grandpa. I would really like any info on William and Mary's other children, well, any info really. Am also interested in finding birth parents for a Vicie Hensley Evans. She married my other great grandpa and his name is George Washington Evans. I can not find anything on her! The only info I have is she was adopted out to the Maynard family when she was 10 or 11. The 1910 census shows her living with a Maynard family in Mingo Co. Wv. and lists her as a cousin. Other than that it's like she just dropped outta the sky though. I do have some decent info (death certificates, marriage licenses, birth certificates) and would be willing to share what I have with anyone who is interested. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Sincerely

Samantha Mahon-Cundiff
